Real Madrid will make the trip to the town of Alcoy in Valencia to square off against Alcoyano on Wednesday. The Whites get their Cope del Rey campaign underway with this Round of 32 Clash.
The Whites are expected to have a comfortable evening in the Spanish countryside against Alcoyano who ply their trade currently in the Segunda Division B. Zidane is likely to field a second fiddle side for this fixture. Keeping in mind the recent run of form, Real Madrid have to return to the Spanish Capital with a win from this clash.
Zidane will have the entire team at his disposal to choose from except for the injured duo of Rodrygo and Dani Carvajal. Here’s how the Whites could take to the field on Wednesday at the Campo Municipal El Collao Stadium –
Defence
Real Madrid’s second-choice goalie, Andriy Lunin, could be allowed to make his debut for the side against Alocoyana. Thibaut Courtois would be given some much-needed rest for this relatively comfortable fixture for Los Blancos. Lucas Vasquez will occupy the right-back spot. However, it will be interesting to see if Zidane gives Odriozola a rare start.
A centre back pairing of Raphael Varane and Nacho Fernandez is expected to take to the field for this midweek fixture. Marcelo will slot it at the left back position and will also captain the side.
Midfield
In midfield, the likes of Casemiro, Kroos and Modric are all expected to be rested. It will be interesting to see Martin Odegaard making a return to the starting lineup alongside Isco and Federico Valverde. The latter two have had chances come by in limited numbers recently and they will truly relish and make the most out this opportunity coming their way.
Attack
Marco Asensio is expected to retain his place in the line-up after an extremely satisfying yet unlucky performance against Athletic Club de Bilbao. Mariano will lead the attack and replace Karim Benzema in the starting eleven. Vinicius Jr will start at the left-wing position. Zidane will certainly have the privilege of introducing Hazard into the game if things are not going to plan.
