Fulham will play hosts to Manchester United at the Craven Cottage on Wednesday night hoping to pick up a positive result at home. The Red Devils will head into the contest on the back of a monotonous 0-0 draw with Liverpool, so they’ll be eager to put up an encouraging performance against the Cottagers. On the other hand, Fulham fell prey to Frank Lampard’s men last Saturday as they lost 1-0 at home.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and keep changes to a minimum for the upcoming away encounter.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Fulham
Defence
Having kept two consecutive clean sheets, David de Gea will keep his place between the sticks for the visitors.
Victor Lindelof should retain his position alongside Harry Maguire as the right centre-back. The duo co-ordinated brilliantly at Anfield to secure a clean sheet and will be hoping to repeat more of the same on Wednesday.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a guaranteed starter at the right-back position whereas Luke Shaw will continue to operate on the other flank, as the left-back. The latter was arguably United’s standout performer at Anfield and has been consistently impressing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since returning from the hamstring injury.
“Luke has improved immensely, I thought today he showed his strength, quality and composure on the ball, delighted with his performance.” – The Norwegian tactician stated.
Midfield
Fred and Scott McTominay are expected to operate in the holding midfield positions. The former has been of great importance to Solskjaer lately and should be given another start if fully fit.
Bruno Fernandes will start as the attacking midfielder hoping to return to his goal-scoring ways. The Portuguese playmaker was denied by Allison from close range last week; however, he’ll be determined to turn things around this time.
He’ll be accompanied by Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford on either side, playing on the right and left-wing respectively.
Donny van de Beek might have to settle for a place on the bench but might come on in the latter stages of the game if called upon.
Attack
Anthony Martial will lead the line for the away side against Fulham. The French striker exhibited a lacklustre display against the Reds, so he’ll be eager to find the back of the net against Scott Parker’s men.
Edinson Cavani might be brought on to influence the game in the second half.
