Everton entertained Leicester City at Goodison Park earlier tonight as they looked to grab a positive result at home. The Toffees defended valiantly in the first half and managed to get themselves ahead on the scoreline in the 30th minute when James Rodriguez found the back of the net. Carlo Ancelotti’s men went into the half-time break one goal to the good.
The Foxes kept pushing for the equaliser and finally found it through Youri Tielemans’ goal in the 67th minute. The contest ended with both teams sharing the spoils after playing out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Merseyside.
Let’s take a look at how each Everton player performed during the clash against the Foxes.
GK: Jordan Pickford – 6/10
The English keeper made some solid stops to restrict the opposition to just one goal. He also pulled off some important clearances for his team but was very sloppy with his ball-distribution.
RB: Mason Holgate – 6.5/10
Holgate didn’t give away anything when defending inside his half and created one good chance during the game.
CB: Yerry Mina – 6.5/10
He held his ground and won quite a few aerial duels at the back. Mina was also not shy to put his body on the line to block a few shots by the Leicester attackers.
CB: Michael Keane – 6.5/10
The English defensive ace was a rock at the back as he kept the Foxes frustrated throughout the game. However, he will be disappointed after conceding a goal in the second half.
LB: Ben Godfrey – 7/10
Godfrey gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field. He also made a good run in the opposition half.
RM: Richarlison – 6.5/10
The Brazilian attacker had a couple of shots but never looked like he had a goal in him. However, he worked hard to track back and defend when required.
CM: Tom Davies – 7/10
Davies made a few crucial interceptions at the back and was also full of energy going forward. He was one of Ancelotti’s better players on the field tonight.
CM: Andre Gomes – 7/10
The Portuguese midfielder showed great hunger to get forward and join in on the attack. He completed several dribbles during the game and also got stuck in with a few tackles as well.
LM: Lucas Digne – 6/10
The Frenchman engineered a couple of decent chances in the attacking third and even earned possession back for his team when needed.
ST: James Rodriguez – 8/10
The Colombian international got his name on the scoresheet at the half-hour mark which ended up giving his team a point. He ran out of energy and got replaced before the end of the game.
ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 6.5/10
Calvert-Lewin worked his socks off to run the channels but didn’t get too many clear-cut chances to find the back of the net.
Substitutes:
RM: Alex Iwobi – 5/10
He struggled to get himself involved in the game.
CAM: Gylfi Sigurdsson – N/A
The Icelandic international did not get enough time to make an impact.
RB: Seamus Coleman – N/A
He came on to run the clock down for Everton.
