According to Sky Germany, Everton and Parma are among clubs tracking Joshua Zirkzee. The Bayern Munich forward is expected to leave the club in this ongoing January transfer window after struggling at Allianz Arena. Both the interested parties have already submitted an offer to Bayern, with the player himself being satisfied with the clubs. Bayern are soon set to make their decision on the future of Zirkzee.
Joshua Zirkzee: Another Failed Talent At Bayern Munich
Joshua Zirkzee initially built his reputation last season, when he netted four goals in just nine appearances in the Bundesliga. He moved ahead of the young Jan-Fiete Arp in the pecking order and even became Hansi Flick’s primary alternative for Robert Lewandowski in the number nine position for a time.
However, things have gone south for the young forward in the ongoing campaign. The arrival of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, in particular, has blocked his route into the first-team, with the player featuring in only 95 minutes of professional football so far.
The rapid rise of his former youth teammate Jamal Musiala hasn’t helped his cause either. In fact, the Englishman becoming an exciting first-team option for Bayern this season has allowed the German tactician to deploy Serge Gnabry in a central role, as an alternative for Lewandowski.
Should Bayern Munich Offload Zirkzee?
While Zirkzee did raise a lot of eyebrows with his goals in the Bundesliga last season, any close observant of the league could make the argument that a few of his goals were mere tap-ins and rather invaluable given the context of the respective matches.
On the contrary, the young attacker has been in poor form this season. His overall play, aside from his productivity, is far from impressive. A move away from Allianz Arena could thus make sense for the 19-year-old.
The Dutchman has a bright future ahead of him if he can improve as a player. Bayern, unfortunately, simply cannot afford the time it would take to nurture Zirkzee into a world-class footballer, thanks to their soaring expectations.
A move to Everton and Parma, in that regard, could be an ideal move for the forward. His physically oriented style of play will be much more suited in the Premier League or Serie A, with the youngster likely to get more game-time at the highest level of football.
