Bayern Munich faced a massive setback in their bid to retain a two-point lead over RB Leipzig as they slump to a narrow 3-2 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach. The Bavarians were cruising 2-0 during the early stages of the game but an inspiring comeback from the Foals saw them level the score at half-time before Florian Neuhaus’ early second-half goal proved to be the winner for the hosts.
Bayern Munich Player Ratings Vs Gladbach
Manuel Neuer 6/10
Manuel Neuer failed to prevent any of the three strikes from Gladbach this evening. His positional play was excellent as ever, though. Yet another missed clean sheet for the goalkeeper nonetheless.
Benjamin Pavard 4/10
Another poor performance from Benjamin Pavard who struggled in dealing with the threat of Jonas Hofmann for the entirety of the game.
Niklas Sule 5/10
Niklas Sule found it difficult to overcome the physical presence provided by Breel Embolo. A disappointing performance from the German international.
David Alaba 5/10
It was a bad day at the office from David Alaba, who couldn’t provide the solidity at the back. He had troubles dealing with the Gladbach attackers.
Alphonso Davies 5/10
Alphonso Davies had a quiet game considering his lofty standards. He struggled to move forward like he usually does, ultimately providing very little to the table.
Joshua Kimmich 6/10
Not the best of games for Joshua Kimmich, who found it difficult to dominate the midfield against Gladbach. He was not given enough freedom on the ball.
Leon Goretzka 6.5/10
Leon Goretzka had an excellent first-half, notably scoring a blinder to double Bayern’s lead. However, he was completely ineffective after the restart.
Leroy Sane 7/10
Leroy Sane looked lively for Bayern Munich for the most part of the game. His industry on the right flank made life difficult for the Gladbach defenders.
Thomas Muller 6/10
A quiet game for Thomas Muller. The German international simply wasn’t involved enough in the proceedings, failing to provide any sort of creativity in the final third.
Douglas Costa 5/10
A poor performance from Douglas Costa, who simply could not make an impact. Taken off midway through the second half.
Robert Lewandowski 6.5/10
Robert Lewandowski showed a lot of work ethic and commitment, trying to motivate his teammates to find the equaliser in the second half but no avail as the striker himself looked sloppy.
SUBSTITUTES
Kingsley Coman 7/10
Looked lively after coming on during the final phase of the game. Should have played right from the beginning as the Frenchman did indeed make life difficult for the Gladbach defenders.
