Chelsea entertained Burnley at Stamford Bridge earlier this afternoon hoping to pick up their first win under Thomas Tuchel. The Blues dominated the game in the first half and took the lead in the 40th minute courtesy of Cesar Azpilicueta’s goal. Tuchel’s men went into the half-time break one goal to the good.
The West London outfit kept pushing in search of the second goal and finally managed to find it when Marcos Alonso scored in the 84th minute. The contest ended with the home team securing an impressive 2-0 win at the English capital.
Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the clash against the Clarets.
GK: Edouard Mendy – 6.5/10
The Blues keeper didn’t have a save to make in the game and secured an easy clean sheet at home. He was also very accurate with his passing.
CB: Cesar Azpilicueta – 8/10
The Spaniard performed his defensive duties well during the game. He also opened the goal-scoring for Chelsea just before the half-time break which made life easy for his teammates in the second 45 minutes.
CB: Thiago Silva – 7.5/10
Silva was strong in the air and cleared the danger well when called into action. He also made quite a few important interceptions for his side.
CB: Antonio Rüdiger – 7/10
Rudiger did well to stay on top of the Clarets attackers and performed well enough to earn another shoutout at Stamford Bridge.
RM: Callum Hudson-Odoi – 7.5/10
The youngster picked up an assist for setting up Azpilicueta’s goal. He was a constant menace for the Burnley defenders because of his creativity in the final third.
CM: Jorginho – 8/10
The Italian playmaker ran the show at the centre of the park and deserves praise for orchestrating several promising chances for his teammates in the attacking third.
CM: Mateo Kovacic – 7.5/10
He was not shy of getting stuck in with a couple of tackles in midfield. Kovacic also gave a good account of himself in the opposition half.
LM: Marcos Alonso – 7/10
The Spanish full-back got back to clear his lines when needed. He also scored the decisive second goal in the 84th minute which killed the game off.
RAM: Mason Mount – 7.5/10
Mount caused all sorts of problems for the Clarets defenders as he made some meaningful openings for his teammates on the offensive end of the pitch.
LAM: Timo Werner – 7/10
The German speedster did everything but score in the game. He also created a couple of decent chances for others around him.
ST: Tammy Abraham – 6/10
Abraham struggled to influence the game in the first half and got subbed at half-time.

He came off the bench at half-time and did well to set up Marcos Alonso’s goal in the second half.
RM: Reece James – 6.5/10
James ensured that his team got over the line with the clean sheet intact.

The German created a good chance after coming on in the 79th minute.
