Arsenal’s winning run in the Premier League comes to an end following a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace. The Gunners struggled to create too many clear cut opportunities, in what was a fairly cagey affair. In fact, they were lucky not to concede as the Eagles failed to make use of the chances they had created in this game.
Arsenal Player Ratings Vs Crystal Palace
Bernd Leno 7/10
Bernd Leno made a spectacular save in the first half and was rarely called into action since. An easy-clean sheet for the German international.
Hector Bellerin 6/10
Hector Bellerin looked sloppy down the right-hand side. He was barely effective going forward and didn’t link up well with Arsenal attackers at all. A poor display from the right-back.
Rob Holding 8/10
Rob Holding dealt with the pressure of two Palace attackers for the large parts of the game. Used his strength and aerial ability to effect, helping the Gunners keep a clean sheet.
David Luiz 7.5/10
David Luiz didn’t make any wrong defensive moves that could have cost Arsenal the game. In fact, the ex-Chelsea star was quite strong during defensive phases.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles 6/10
Ainsley Maitland-Niles failed to fill in the shoes of Kieran Tierney on the left-hand side. He was occasionally effective, but nothing extraordinary to trouble the Palace backline.
Granit Xhaka 8/10
Granit Xhaka had a good game in central midfield. His recovered a lot of balls in the middle of the park and looked commanding whenever he was with possession.
Dani Ceballos 7/10
Dani Ceballos attempted some excellent forward passes especially during the early stages of the game. His influence eventually faded, with the midfielder being subbed midway through the second half.
Bukayo Saka 6/10
Bukayo Saka had a rather disappointing game on the right flank. He struggled to make things happen and was eventually shifted into the opposite flank in the second half.
Emile Smith Rowe 6/10
Emile Smith Rowe had a poor game in the final third for Arsenal. The young playmaker couldn’t influence the game as much as he would have liked. His lack of physical prowess also made it easier for Palace defenders to dispossess him.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 5/10
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looked lively at times but he is still nowhere near his usual best. Continues to struggle when playing out wide.
Alexandre Lacazette 5/10
Alexandre Lacazette was barely involved in the number nine position. He was defended well by Palace defenders for the most part of the game, with the striker being eventually taken off during the final phase.
Substitutes
Nicolas Pepe 6/10
Struggled to provide anything of note, as usual, probing the opposing backline with no avail.
Thomas Partey 6/10
Made his return to the pitch after an injury layoff. One of the few good things for Arsenal in this game.
Eddie Nketiah N/A
A late replacement for Lacazette. Couldn’t influence the game either.
