Manchester City will entertain Sheffield United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to win and stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League standings. Pep Guardiola’s men are in a great run of form at the moment, having put five goals past West Bromwich Albion earlier this week. Hence, they will be the heavy favourites to pick up maximum points versus the Blades this weekend.
The Mancunian giants will opt for a 4-3-3 formation with Guardiola expected to make a few tweaks to his starting XI for this game. Gabriel Jesus, Aymeric Laporte and Kyle Walker are all expected to start at the expense of Phil Foden, John Stones and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup Vs Sheffield United
Defence
Ederson will play in goal for Man City after securing another clean sheet versus the Baggies in his last league appearance. Aymeric Laporte could come into the side to play alongside Ruben Dias at the centre of Guardiola’s defence as they focus on keeping another shutout in the Premier League this weekend.
Kyle Walker could get a start at right-back while Joao Cancelo looks to produce another impressive performance as a makeshift left-back. They will both get the license to get forward and join in on the attack as much as they can in order to create some meaningful openings in the final third.
John Stones and Oleksandr Zinchenko will drop to the bench but might come on to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if required.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan, Fernandinho and Bernardo Silva will make up the Man City midfield as they try to establish their superiority at the centre of the park. Fernandinho will anchor the midfield while both Gundogan and Silva hope to produce a productive performance in the Sheffield United half.
Rodri could be handed a rest on the bench after his heavy involvement in midweek.
Attack
Raheem Sterling will be asked to play as a left-winger while Riyad Mahrez looks to build on his goal-scoring performance in midweek by putting on another eye-catching display but this time, from the right flank.
Gabriel Jesus is expected to get another chance to spearhead Guardiola’s attack down the middle. Ferran Torres and Phil Foden will be available for selection on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the latter stages if needed.
