West Ham United will clash heads with Stockport County at Edgeley Park on Monday night hoping to pick up a win on the road and progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup. The Hammers earned a crucial 1-0 victory away at Everton earlier this month, which will give them a lot of confidence heading into this cup encounter versus the National League outfit.
David Moyes is expected to make a few changes to his side and will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation for this game. The West Ham boss could be inclined to name Michail Antonio and Andriy Yarmolenko in his first-team after the club agreed to sell Sebastien Haller to Ajax during this January transfer period.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Stockport County
Defence
Darren Randolph will keep his spot in goal for the Hammers after securing a clean sheet versus the Toffees in his last outing. Issa Diop could get the nod to partner Fabian Balbuena at the heart of the West Ham backline as they look to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Vladimír Coufal will probably retain his place at right-back in the injury absence of Ryan Fredericks. Ben Johnson might be deployed on the other side as a makeshift left-back as Moyes could offer Aaron Cresswell a well-deserved rest on the bench.
Midfield
Robert Snodgrass is likely to anchor the midfield along with Mark Noble as they try to establish their dominance over the opposition at the centre of the park. The technically-gifted trio of Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko will function just ahead of them as part of Moyes’ attack. It will be up to them to carve open the Stockport defence and engineer some decent chances for Michail Antonio inside the penalty box.
Both Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma will be available for selection on the bench but might come on to feature in the latter stages of the game if needed.
Attack
Moyes will have no choice but to let Michail Antonio spearhead his attack up top. The English striker has comeback recently from a long injury layoff, so this game could be an ideal chance for him to bang in some goals and get some confidence back ahead of the Premier League’s return later this month.
