Premiership giants Rangers secured their place atop the Premiership table with a 2-1 victory against Dundee United. The Gers were the dominant side for a majority of the fixture, and all it took was two first-half goals to ensure that they saw out the win. Despite having 18 shots over the course of the evening, they were unable to capitalise, with both the goals coming from two defenders as well. James Tavernier scored the opening goal of the game with a sensational free-kick, before Liam Smith equalised for United just minutes later. It was Connor Goldson once again who scored that turned out to be the winner, with Tavernier’s impact being felt as well.
Here Are The Rangers Player Ratings Vs Dundee United:
Rangers Player Ratings Vs Dundee United
Allan McGregor – 6
The veteran keeper should’ve arguably done a better job on the lead up to the United equaliser but apart from that, had little to deal with. Assured with passes for the most part too.
James Tavernier – 8
The Englishman’s spell in the limelight continued with yet another influential display from the right-back role. Scored an absolute peach of a free-kick before setting up the second.
Connor Goldson – 7
The big centre-half had a rather solid afternoon all around as he controlled the back-line in an effective manner. Stepped up when it mattered and scored the winning goal as well.
Leon Balogun – 6.5
The Nigerian international defender was solid for the most part but did have a couple of avoidable moments over the course of the ninety. Didn’t look overly troubled by the United attack.
Borna Barisic – 6.5
The Croatian speedster got forward and linked up the play whenever he could, but didn’t have too much an impact. Wasn’t put under too much pressure defensively and looked solid at that.
Steven Davis – 7
The experienced midfielder’s brilliance is being proven game after game, as he controlled the tempo of the ball for large chunks of that tie. Fluid with his passing and showed great intelligence too.
Glen Kamara – 7
The Finnish midfielder put up yet another bustling performance in the core of the side as he carried the ball with good confidence. Worked hard while required to track back and defend too.
Scott Arfield – 7
The attacker is another one of Gerrard’s players who is currently in red hot form. Made some excellent forward runs and arguably should’ve got himself on the scoresheet as well.
Kemar Roofe – 6
The Jamaican striker wasn’t able to have his usual impact in the final third as he remained on the fringes of the game for large periods. Did produce some good touches and passes though.
Alfredo Morelos – 4
The Colombian was quite possibly the worst player on the pitch for the Gers today as he failed to get into the pace of the game. Extremely lucky to have stayed on the pitch after his elbow incident.
Ryan Kent – 7
The speedster was far from his best today, but he did showcase his quality in glimpses. From someone of his quality, we do expect so much more from him.
