Premiership giants Celtic picked up their first victory of the Europa League campaign in the last match of the group stages. Although Neil Lennon’s men had no chance of securing qualification into the knockout stages going into the tie, the manager will be able to take motivation from the performances that some of his youngsters put in tonight. The midfield combination of Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull worked wonders in the engine room, as goals from Christopher Jullien, Callum McGregor and David Turnbull meant that the Hoops beat the Ligue 1 heavyweights by a 3-2 scoreline.
Here Are The Celtic Player Ratings Vs Lille
Celtic Player Ratings Vs Lille
Conor Hazard – 6.5
The young keeper made his first appearance of the season so far, and it must be conceded that he looked sharp. Couldn’t have done much about the goals and made a couple of decent saves too.
Shane Duffy – 6.5
A couple of silly decisions at the back and he picked up an unnecessary yellow card as well. Was solid for the most part though.
Christopher Jullien – 7
The French centre-half scored the important opening goal in the first half with a deft header. Defended strongly and managed the difficult fixture in a rather effective manner as well.
Kristoffer Ajer – 7
The centre-half defended well for the most part and didn’t allow too much space in behind either. Made a stellar run forward in the second half and produced a brilliant assist for Turnbull’s goal.
Jeremie Frimpong – 6
The speedster started the game quite well and looked to drive forward whenever he picked up possession of the ball. Had to come off with an injury around the half-hour mark of the fixture though.
Callum McGregor – 6.5
Worked hard in the middle of the park and played some good forward passes as well. Made a terrible mistake to hand Lille their goal before almost gifting them another goal in the second half.
Ismaila Soro – 8
The Ivorian was given his first start of the Europa League campaign, and it must be conceded that he announced himself in great style. Worked his socks off defensively and neat in possession.
David Turnbull – 7.5
The young midfielder showed Neil Lennon why he should be given more first-team opportunities with a solid performance in the Celtic engine room. Scored on his European debut as well.
Diego Laxalt – 7
The Uruguayan wing-back put in an excellent shift down the flank tonight. Got forward when required to and made multiple important blocks to ensure that Lille didn’t find spaces in behind.
Mohamed Elyounoussi – 7
The Norwegian attacker didn’t have his most influential game in attack tonight, but he did well to carry the ball forward at times. Showed good intent, and his quality was apparent to see.
Patryk Klimala – 6.5
The young striker didn’t have his most influential outing in attack tonight but there were instances where he held the ball up quite well. Tried to make a nuisance of himself in the box though.
