Liverpool entertained Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield earlier tonight looking to earn all three points at home. The Reds made a dominant start to the game and took the lead in the 24th minute courtesy of Mohamed Salah’s excellent finish. Wolves got a few half-chances of their own but couldn’t make the breakthrough as the Merseyside club cruised into the half-time break one-nil up on the scoreline.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were at their scintillating best in the second 45 minutes as Georginio Wijnaldum and Joel Matip scored a goal each to secure the points for the home side. Nelson Semedo went on to score an unfortunate own goal in the 78th minute which gave Liverpool a convincing 4-0 victory at Merseyside.
Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player performed during the match against Wolves.

The 22-year-old made some solid stops during the game to keep his clean sheet intact. He also distributed the ball well and was a dominant presence inside his own penalty box.
RB: Neco Williams – 7/10
Williams didn’t commit too many mistakes at the back and was always willing to get forward and join in on the attack.
CB: Fabinho – 8/10
The Brazilian defender made some crucial last-gasp clearances for his team in the second half and will be happy after getting over the line with the clean sheet in the bag.
CB: Joel Matip – 8/10
The Cameroonian defender was a rock at the heart of Klopp’s defence and scored his team’s third goal with a powerful header from point-blank range.
LB: Andrew Robertson – 8/10
The Scottish left-back ran himself to the ground and made some lung-bursting dashes down the left flank. He was defensively solid as well at the other end.
CM: Georginio Wijnaldum – 8/10
The Dutch midfield ace showed great technique to score a peach of a goal in the second half. He was full of energy and running in midfield and didn’t give the Wolves attackers too much ground when they were breaking fast on the counter.
CM: Jordan Henderson – 8/10
The Liverpool captain curved open the Wolves defence with some wonderful long passes and has got two great assists to show for his efforts.
CM: Curtis Jones – 7/10
The English playmaker kept the ball moving in the opposition half without creating too many openings in the final third. He tested Rui Patricio with a powerful shot in the second half.
RW: Mohamed Salah – 9/10
The Egyptian international opened the goal-scoring after pouncing on a mistake by Conor Coady and smashing home with a classy finish. He also picked up an assist for setting up Matip’s goal in the 67th minute.
ST: Roberto Firmino – 8/10
The Brazilian striker was a joy to watch in the first half with his excellent link-up play and tricks on the ball. He ran out of gas and was replaced before the end of the game.
LW: Sadio Mane – 7/10
Mane squandered some decent chances to score but played a huge role in forcing Semedo’s own goal. However, he will be hoping for more productive nights at Anfield in the coming weeks.

The English right-back delivered a world-class cross in the lead-up to Semedo’s own goal in the 78th minute.
