A shocking quarterfinal defeat against St. Mirren knocked Rangers out of the League Cup ten days back. But they are going strong in their quest for the Premiership glory and grabbed yet another crucial 1-0 win against the mighty Hibernian.
Below are the Rangers players rated in their 1-0 win against Hibernian.
Allan McGregor: 7
The game against Hibs was not supposed to be a stroll in the park. But the Gers custodian was rarely tested between the sticks and found little trouble in registering another cleansheet.
James Tavernier: 7.5
Energetic down the wide with his relentless overlapping runs, crosses and key passes in the attacking third. Did well defensively whenever required and looked purposeful with the ball while surging forward.
Connor Goldson: 7.5
Could have found the net midway through the first half, but his thumping header was denied by Dillon Barnes in Hibernian goal. Was solid defensively as he did well to contain the likes of Kevin Nisbet and Martin Boyle including one crucial recovery challenge to deny the Aussie international.
Leon Balogun: 7.5
Returned to action replacing Filip Helander in the heart of the backline and was in the right place at the right time all throughout. Tested Barnes at the other end of the pitch but failed to beat past the keeper twice during the contest.
Borna Barisic: 7
Balanced his game between attack and defence, combined well with Ryan Kent down the left-hand flank and whipped in crosses as well as long balls to threaten the opponents’ defensive third.
Steven Davis: 7.5
The veteran midfield maestro was calm and composed with the ball on his feet. Orchestrated the tempo from the deep, also looked combative while engaging in duels against Hibs midfield.
Joe Aribo: 6.5
Was not at his best this afternoon despite a few successful dribbling attempts and smart one-twos. Lost the majority of duels and even got dispossessed once under pressure.
Glen Kamara: 7.5
His passing and pressing game refrained the away side from settling down in the middle of the park. Carried the ball out from the back to operate in the advanced areas of the pitch and his high work ethics made the job easy for Steven Gerrard’s juggernaut.
Ianis Hagi: 8
Undergoing a purple patch after a rough spell as the Romanian made the difference with the solitary goal of the game. Flashed past his marker to convert Roofe’s pass beyond Barnes to earn all three points for the Bears. Made way for Scott Arfield late in the game.
Ryan Kent: 6.5
The Englishman kept the Hibs defence on their toes with his pace, power and persistent passing. Played his part in Hagi’s goal, however, could have offered more though in terms of creating goal-scoring opportunities from the left flank.
Kemar Roofe: 8.5
Back to his best shaking off previous injury woes and delivered once again when he set it up for Hagi after some majestic work inside the box. Made way for Morelos with around 10 minutes remaining of the match.
