Manchester United ended their poor run of form at Old Trafford as they beat Leeds United 6-2 earlier tonight. The home side tore apart the Whites’ defence as McTominay, Lindelof, Bruno Fernandes and Daniel James all managed to get their names on the scoresheet.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player fared during the match against Leeds United.
David De Gea – 7/10
The Spanish goalkeeper was unfortunate to have conceded two goals. The first goal underlined United’s failure in zonal marking while the second goal was a moment of individual brilliance from Dallas. Pulled off an excellent save at the 50-minute-mark.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7/10
Did whatever he could to stop Leeds from breaking down United’s right flank. Put up a solid defensive performance, however, his attacking runs were of very little use.
Victor Lindelof – 6.5/10
Looked sloppy in early stages of the first half which could have easily cost his side, but did make amends for it as he scored a goal to make it 4-0 following a set-piece routine.
Harry Maguire – 6.5/10
The English defender dominated aerially and made some really important clearances for his side.
Luke Shaw – 7/10
Put on strong performance down the left-hand side as he once again justified Ole’s decision of selecting him over Alex Telles.
Fred – 7.5/10
The Brazilian midfielder nullified a number of counter-attacking threats throughout the ninety minutes. Won majority of his battles at the centre of the park and his ball-distribution was decent as well.
Scott McTominay – 9.5/10
Simply a world-class performance from the Scottish international. Scored two goals in the first three minutes and seemed to be at the heart of every build-up throughout the game. Got himself an assist as well.
Marcus Rashford – 8/10
Looked very threatening as he cut inside from the left flank time and again. His blistering pace and swift movement kept the opposition defenders on their knees.
Bruno Fernandes – 9/10
Carved out some clear cut goal-scoring chances for his side and even got his name on the scoresheet twice.
Daniel James – 7/10
Didn’t seem convincing for most parts of the game and even got a yellow card for simulation in the second half. However, the Welshman did well to put the ball through Meslier’s legs to score United’s fifth goal of the game.
Anthony Martial – 8/10
The Frenchman looked confident on the ball after ages today. Made some really dangerous runs to slice open the opposition defence as he got himself a couple of assists and won his side an important penalty.
Substitutes:
Alex Telles – 6/10
Came in for Luke Shaw but took up a more advanced position on the pitch.
Donny Van De Beek – 6.5/10
Made a few good passes but that’s all the Dutchman had to offer.
Edinson Cavani– 6/10
Offered a lot of energy going forward but never really looked threatening.
