Manchester United faced off against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane earlier tonight looking to continue their outstanding away form in the Premier League. The Red Devils made a sloppy start to the game and conceded an early goal after Dean Henderson’s mistake was pounced on by David McGoldrick who scored from point-blank range.
However, Man United responded positively and got themselves back into the contest via Marcus Rashford’s excellent finish in the 26th minute. Just seven minutes later, Anthony Martial gave his team the lead with a poked finish from close range. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men went into the half-time break with a narrow one-goal advantage.
Rashford scored again in the 51st minute to put daylight between the two sides. However, Chris Wilder’s players kept pushing and got a consolation goal courtesy McGoldrick’s header. The contest ended with the Red Devils claiming a hard-fought 3-2 win away at Yorkshire.
Let’s take a look at how each Man United player performed during the clash against the Blades.
GK: Dean Henderson – 5/10
Henderson made an early mistake which cost his team the opening goal. However, he recovered well and put on a good show in the second half.
RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6/10
The English full-back did his defensive duties at the back but hardly troubled the Blades going forward.
CB: Victor Lindelof – 6/10
Lindelof picked up an assist for setting up Rashford’s first goal. However, he could have done far better while defending McGoldrick’s second goal late in the game.
CB: Harry Maguire – 7/10
He was a strong presence inside his half but will be disappointed after conceding two goals tonight.
LB: Alex Telles – 7/10
The Brazilian full-back had a busy game on the defensive end of the field but stood up to the test quite well. He also created a couple of decent chances during the game.
CM: Paul Pogba – 7/10
The French international bossed the game in midfield and secured an assist for setting up Martial’s goal. He also began the excellent move which led to Rashford’s goal early in the second half.
CM: Nemanja Matic – 5/10
The Serbian midfield ace struggled to influence the game at both ends of the field. It was a far from a convincing performance from him today.
LW: Marcus Rashford – 9/10
The English speedster was devastating on the counter and caused a lot of headaches for the Sheffield defenders. He scored a brace and deserved the man of the match award.
CAM: Bruno Fernandes – 7/10
The Portuguese playmaker cut open the Blades defence quite a few times during the game but will be disappointed for not registering a goal or an assist during his time on the field.
RW: Mason Greenwood – 6/10
Greenwood had a quiet first half but did well to test Aaron Ramsdale with a powerful strike in the second half.
ST: Anthony Martial – 7.5/10
The French striker was far from prolific, but he still managed to end the game with a goal and an assist to his name.
Substitutes:

The Spaniard tested Ramsdale with a tidy strike, but the ball went straight at the opposition keeper.
CM: Donny van de Beek – 5/10

He didn’t get enough time to influence the game.
