It remains tight at the top of the table as Leicester City played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Manchester United at the King Power Stadium earlier today. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for the visitors as he converted from Fernandes’ pass. Eight minutes later, Harvey Barnes smashed the ball from outside the box to equalise for the home side. Late into the second half, Bruno Fernandes managed to put one past Schmeichel to restore the away side’s lead following which Jamie Vardy took a shot that deflected off Tuanzebe to score the final goal of the game.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player fared during the match against Leicester City.
David De Gea – 5/10
Conceded two goals but could have hardly done anything to stop them. The Spaniard’s ball distribution was decent.
Victor Lindelof – 6/10
The Swedish defender had no clue on what was expected of him in attacking terms but did a decent job at the back to fill in for the injured Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Eric Bailly – 5/10
The Ivorian centre-back failed to track Jamie Vardy’s movement in the box, which led to the game’s final goal as Rodgers’ side made it 2-2 at the 85th minute.
Harry Maguire – 5.5/10
Looked shaky at times but didn’t commit any fatal mistake. Won some decisive headers and made a few important clearances for his side.
Luke Shaw – 6/10
Yet another commendable performance from the English fullback down the left-hand side. His work-rate was extraordinary as he kept running up and down the pitch to help his team at both ends.
Fred – 6/10
The Brazilian midfielder put up an energetic performance to protect United’s ‘back-four’ throughout the ninety minutes. Made some crucial interceptions and tackles to put an end to Leicester’s counter-attacks.
Scott McTominay – 5.5/10
The Scottish international did well at the centre of the park but should have done better to prevent Harvey Barnes from taking the shot that led to the home side’s first goal.
Marcus Rashford – 6.5/10
Could have bagged a hattrick today. Missed a close-range header early on and was denied by Schmeichel later. Nonetheless, he did get his name on the scoresheet as he put the ball calmly past the Leicester goalkeeper to make it 1-0 for the away side.
Bruno Fernandes – 8/10
The Portuguese playmaker was the away side’s best player on the pitch by far. Put an inch-perfect cross for Rashford in the 2nd minute, which the Englishman failed to convert. However, he got himself a fortunate assist and even a goal late into the second half.
Daniel James – 5/10
The Welshman could have set Bruno Fernandes on goal but failed to make the simple pass. Didn’t have a lot of influence on the game and had to make way for Paul Pogba in the second half.
Anthony Martial – 5.5/10
The Frenchman started the game well but started looking lustreless in front of the goal as the game went on. Was taken off for Edinson Cavani at the 75-minute-mark.
Substitutes:
Paul Pogba – 6/10
Made some good passes and did well to retain possession in midfield.
Axel Tuanzebe – 5/10
Came on for Victor Lindelof at the right-back position but didn’t have much to do. However, he ended up conceding an unlucky own goal late in the second half.
Edinson Cavani– 7/10
Made a difference just four minutes after he came on as he dropped deep to play a brilliant through ball to Bruno Fernandes.
