Leeds United ended their poor run of form at Elland Road as they came from behind to beat Newcastle United 5-2. The home side tore apart the Magpies’ defence as Bamford, Rodrigo, Dallas, Alioski, and Harrison all managed to get their names on the scoresheet.
Let’s take a look at how each Leeds United player fared in their emphatic win vs Newcastle United.
Leeds United Player Ratings Vs Newcastle United
Illan Meslier – 6.5/10
Tested on a couple of occasions where he passed with flying colours. Couldn’t have done much to stop the shots that found the back of the net.
Stuart Dallas – 7.5/10
Looked very threatening cutting inside from the right flank but was at sixes and sevens defensively. Did well to beat Almiron and score from Klich’s cross to make it 3-2.
Luke Ayling – 4/10
A poor display from the Englishman. Got beaten by Callum Wilson and left Ciaran Clark unmarked which led to Newcastle’s first and second goal respectively.
Liam Cooper – 6/10
Looked shaky at times but had an okayish game overall. Put in a few good tackles and made some important clearances.
Ezgjan Alioski – 7.5/10
Same as Dallas, Alioski struggled defensively as he failed to track a few runs made by the Newcastle attackers. However, he made amends for his performance by making it 4-2 for the home side late in the game.
Kalvin Phillips – 6/10
He has had better performances this season. Even though he didn’t look very effective, his ball distribution was top-notch.
Raphinha – 8/10
Looked very confident on the ball and created a menace down the right-hand for Steve Bruce’s men.
Mateusz Klich – 6/10
Looked a bit out of form tonight as most of his passes failed to find the intended target. Nonetheless, the Polish midfielder made a good cross to find the unmarked Dallas.
Rodrigo Moreno – 8.5/10
Leeds’ best player on the pitch by far. Put up a world-class performance and got himself a goal.
Jack Harrison – 8/10
Stretched the home sides’ attack on the left-hand side. Delivered a few excellent crosses into the box and got himself a goal and an assist.
Patrick Bamford – 7/10
Worked hard on and off the ball to make things easier for his side. Dropped deep and linked up the play whenever necessary. Got his name on the scoresheet by heading the ball home from close range.
Substitutes
Jamie Shackleton – N/A
It was too late when he came on.
Hernandez – 7/10
Did his job as an impact substitution. Kept his cool to find Alioksi inside the box.
Tyler Roberts – 6/10
Had little to no influence on the game.
