Premiership giants Rangers maintained their 16 point lead at the top of the league table after a rather comfortable 2-0 win against St. Mirren today. The Ibrox club scored both the goals in the first half, and despite having a flurry of half-chances for the remainder of the tie, they were unable to find the net again. Kemar Roofe opened the scoring with a deflected strike before Alfredo Morelos pounced on a loose St. Mirren pass to double the Gers’ advantage in a matter of just minutes. The defenders put up a good showing for the most part, and they saw out what was an important 2-0 win.
Here Are The Rangers Player Ratings Vs St. Mirren:
Rangers Player Ratings Vs St. Mirren
Allan McGregor – 6.5
The veteran goalkeeper had a couple of forgettable moments with the ball at his feet that could’ve cost Gerrard’s men on another day. Didn’t have all that much to do at the back though.
James Tavernier – 7
The skipper had a lot of defending to do over the course of that tie, but it must be conceded that he did a rather effective job. Worked hard in attack and tracked back whenever required to.
Connor Goldson – 7
The big Englishman put his body on the line to keep St. Mirren out on numerous occasions in the second half, and his general work-rate and composure on the ball were excellent as well.
Filip Helander – 8
The centre-half was calm and composed in possession, and he passed the ball around with supreme confidence at times as well. Never looked overly flustered at the back either.
Borna Barisic – 7.5
The Croatian international was rock solid at the back today despite being put under a solid amount of pressure over the course of the ninety. Got forward well when required to as well.
Steven Davis – 7
The veteran midfielder picked up the ball in some good positions in the middle of the park and tried to release the Rangers attackers whenever the opportunities presented themselves.
Glen Kamara – 7
The Finnish midfielder was extremely composed with his movement in the middle of the park, as he opened spaces up for attackers to move into. Passed it around neatly as well.
Joe Aribo – 7
The Nigerian international’s work-rate and intentions were both solid, and his passing was right up there as well. Picked up some good attacking positions and linked up the play effectively.
Ianis Hagi – 7.5
The Romanian repaid Steven Gerrard’s trust in him by putting up yet another solid performance in attack. Showed some excellent touches and played a peach of a pass to release Roofe. That no-look backheel was simply sublime as well.
Alfredo Morelos – 7
The Colombian striker had his best game in recent weeks tonight as he got on the scoresheet thanks to sheer perseverance – something he was known for all through last season.
Kemar Roofe – 7.5
The Jamaican striker did well to make the run into the box ahead of the Gers’ opener, but he did get lucky with the deflection that carried it in. Worked hard off the ball and looked threatening.
