Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made four changes to his side from the midweek defeat vs. Paris Saint-Germain.
After an awful first-half performance where United’s game plan was working pretty much against them, Ole made two changes at half-time that saw his side bounce back into the game in a spectacular fashion.
Here’s how each Manchester United player fared during the match against West Ham United.
Manchester United Players Rated In Their Win Vs West Ham United
GK: Henderson –6 /10
Tested on a few occasions where he passed with flying colours, especially the finger-tip save from Creswell’s free-kick. Put a great ball into Bruno Fernandes’ path, which led to the away side’s first goal. Couldn’t have done much about the goal he conceded.
RB: Wan-Bissaka –6 /10
Did whatever he could to stop the opposition from scoring. Put in a few good blocks and challenges before making a heroic tackle to recover the ball just before the half-time whistle.
CB: Victor Lindelof – 5/10
Made blocks and clearances whenever necessary. Defended well, but he could have done better.
CB: Harry Maguire –5 /10
Left Declan Rice unmarked which led to West Ham’s first goal. He has had better performances this season.
LB: Alex Telles – 6.5/10
Kept looking for ways to create menace down West Ham’s right flank and left spaces in the defence as a result. Assisted Greenwood with an unintended cross.
CDM: Scott McTominay –5.5 /10
Had an okayish game. Was made to work hard throughout. Retained the ball well.
Van De Beek – 4.5/10
Failed to link up the play on several occasions; no wonder why he was taken off for Bruno after forty-five minutes.
CM: Paul Pogba –7 /10
Had a poor first half. Gave the ball away with simple passes. Found his feet in the second half as he made a couple of good passes before releasing a monstrous strike to beat Fabianski.
Mason Greenwood – 7/10
Could hardly be spotted during the first half but turned the table once he shifted into a more central position. Did brilliantly to trap Telles’ cross and slot it home.
Anthony Martial – 4/10
Sloppy throughout the game. His lack of confidence was very evident from the way he played, as he lost possession of the ball numerous times and managed to have just one shot on target. Subbed off due to an injury at the 60-minute-mark.
Edinson Cavani –4 /10
Starved of service. Had little to no influence on the game.
Substitutes
Bruno Fernandes– 8/10
Completely changed the complexion of the game once he came on. Made brilliant passes to unlock the home side’s defence. Initiated a comeback for the third league game in a row as he brilliantly laid off the ball for Paul Pogba.
Marcus Rashford –8 /10
Terrified the defence with his pace and clever movement. Linked well with Bruno a few times before he scored the 3rd and final goal to secure a victory.
Juan Mata – 6/10
Put a perfectly weighted pass into Marcus Rashford’s path.
