Liverpool will take on FC Midtjylland at the MCH Arena on Wednesday evening having already secured qualification as the Group D winners into the UEFA Champions League knockout stages. The Reds are enjoying a decent run of form after picking up back to back victories against Ajax and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to stick with his preferred 4-3-3 formation and might rest most of his first-team players for this dead-rubber match versus the Danish outfit. Hence, we can expect to see the likes of Billy Koumetio, Leighton Clarkson and Jake Cain get a taste of first-team action in midweek.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face FC Midtjylland
Defence
Adrian could get the nod to operate in goal as Klopp looks to keep Caoimhin Kelleher fresh for this weekend’s trip to Fulham in the Premier League. Billy Koumetio might get a chance to impress alongside Rhys Williams at the heart of the Liverpool backline as they look to keep things solid at the back in midweek.
Neco Williams will retain his spot at right-back as Trent Alexander-Arnold is probably going to replace him in Klopp’s first-team this weekend. Konstantinos Tsimikas will fill in on the other side at left-back as the Reds look to hand Andy Robertson some well-deserved rest.
Both Fabinho and Joel Matip will probably feature on the substitute’s bench but could come on to play a few minutes in the second half if needed.
Midfield
As mentioned earlier, Leighton Clarkson and Jake Cain will get a start in midfield alongside Naby Keita as they try to dominate the ball and create some decent chances for their teammates in the final third. The midfield trio will also have to work hard towards providing adequate protection for the Reds backline, especially when the home side are looking to threaten on the counter.
Curtis Jones and Luis Longstaff could make up the numbers on the Liverpool bench as they wait for their chance to shine as the impact substitutes if Klopp decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Klopp could choose to go with a front three of Diogo Jota, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino for this European contest away at Denmark. Jota was rested last weekend and will be fresh for this midweek clash against Brian Priske’s men.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are likely to be rested, so Roberto Firmino might offer some cover for the attacking positions on the bench.
