Everton will face off against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday night hoping to pick up maximum points on the road. The Toffees suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United earlier this week which knocked them out of the EFL Cup. Therefore, Carlo Ancelotti will demand a much-improved performance from his players this weekend.
The Merseyside outfit will probably set themselves up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Ancelotti is expected to bring Jordan Pickford and Mason Holgate back for this game after they were rested in midweek. However, their inclusion would mean that both Robin Olsen and Seamus Coleman drops to the bench.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Sheffield United
Defence
Jordan Pickford will feature in between the sticks for the Toffees after sitting out of the Man United loss in midweek. Yerry Mina will resume his centre-back partnership with Michael Keane at the heart of the Everton backline as they try to keep the Blades attackers at bay on Saturday.
Mason Holgate could return to fill in as a makeshift right-back while Ben Godfrey fills in on the other flank as a makeshift left-back. Ancelotti will ask both of them to keep a solid defensive shape at the back so that they can restrict the opposition from getting too much joy out on the wide areas.
Midfield
Tom Davies will partner up with Abdoulaye Doucoure in the holding midfield positions as they look to offer some added protection for their teammates at the back. The gifted trio of Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Alex Iwobi will operate just ahead of them as part of the Toffees attack.
Richarlison is a slight doubt for this game, but James Rodriguez is unlikely to recover in time for this clash away at South Yorkshire. Both Andre Gomes and Bernard will be available for selection on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
The Everton attack would be spearheaded by Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the final third. The English striker has banged in 11 goals in the Premier League this season, so this game would be another chance for him to shine as the focal point of Ancelotti’s attack.
Cenk Tosun will make up the numbers on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to influence the game in the latter stages if required.
