Everton will entertain Manchester City at Goodison Park on Monday night hoping to continue their good form in the Premier League. The Toffees managed to secure a hard-fought 1-0 win over Sheffield United last Saturday which will give them a lot of momentum ahead of this league encounter at home.
Carlo Ancelotti will probably stick with his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation and might bring Bernard back to his starting XI for this upcoming contest at Merseyside. Anthony Gordon got a start versus the Blades but didn’t impress, so we can expect him to drop to the bench.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester City
Defence
Jordan Pickford will retain his spot in between the sticks for the Toffees after he secured a clean sheet versus Chris Wilder’s men on Saturday. Yerry Mina will resume his centre-back partnership with Michael Keane at the heart of the Everton defence as they look to neutralise the threat of Ferran Torres during the 90 minutes.
Mason Holgate will operate as a makeshift right-back while Ben Godfrey continues to feature on the other side as a makeshift left-back. Ancelotti will ask both of them to sit back and soak in the Man City pressure before hitting them on the counter.
Midfield
Tom Davies and Abdoulaye Doucoure will fill in as the holding midfielders as they try to stop the opposition from dominating the battle at the centre of the park. The promising trio of Bernard, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Alex Iwobi will look to interchange possession amongst each other in the opposition half.
Sigurdsson was the match-winner against the Blades, so he will be full of confidence going into this league clash at Goodison Park. Anthony Gordon and Andre Gomes will have to be content with a spot on the bench but could come on to influence the game in the second half if needed.
Attack
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will spearhead Ancelotti’s attack up top. The English striker has struggled to find the back of the net of late, so he will be eager to return to goal-scoring ways on Monday night. Cenk Tosun will make up the numbers on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to impress in the latter stages of the game if Ancelotti decides to call upon his services.
