Barcelona will clash heads with Real Valladolid at the Estadio José Zorrilla on Tuesday night hoping to return to winning ways in La Liga. The Catalan giants were held to a 2-2 draw at home versus Valencia last weekend which has increased their need to pick up maximum points in midweek.
Ronald Koeman will probably stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation for this game and might make a few changes to his team for this upcoming contest on the road. Both Frenkie De Jong and Clement Lenglet are expected to return to Koeman’s first-team later this week.
4-2-3-1 Barcelona Predicted Lineup To Face Real Valladolid
Defence
Marc-André ter Stegen will continue to operate in between the sticks for Barca after he conceded two goals versus Valencia in his last outing. Clement Lenglet will once again get the nod to partner Ronald Araújo at the centre of the Barca backline as they look to keep things tidy at the back during the 90 minutes.
Sergiño Dest will hope to impress at right-back while Jordi Alba tries to give a good account of himself on the other flank as the left-back. Koeman will ask both his full-backs to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack as they cannot afford to leave too much space in behind them.
Midfield
Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets will assume the duties of the holding midfielders as they look to establish Barca’s dominance at the centre of the park. Martin Braithwaite will get another opportunity to impress on the left flank while Antoine Griezmann focuses on doing some damage from the right-wing. Pedri will get the freedom to operate in the number ten position as he looks to engineer some inviting chances for others around him.
Miralem Pjanic and Franciso Trincao will be named on the bench but could come on to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if Koeman decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Lionel Messi will spearhead the Barca attack up top. The Argentine maestro managed to get his name on the scoresheet against Valencia last weekend which will keep him in high spirits heading into this midweek league encounter on the road.
