Leeds United register their second back to back win in the Premier League following a 5-0 thumping of West Bromwich Albion. The Whites were simply the dominant side throughout the course of the game, though they were given a little headstart by a bizarre own goal from Romaine Sawyers. It was followed by three goals from Ezgjan Alioski, Jack Harrison and Rodrigo before Raphinha added the final gloss in the scoreline by netting in the second half.
Leeds United Player Ratings Vs West Bromwich Albion
Illan Meslier 6/10
Illan Meslier was once again unconvincing with one of his claims early on in the game. He made another sloppy pass in the second half but did well to make amends for his mistake with a remarkable save.
Stuart Dallas 9/10
Stuart Dallas was a solid defensive outlet for Leeds United in the right-back position. He also moved forward whenever it was necessary, providing further offensive support to his attacking teammates. Also registered a brilliant assist for Raphinha’s goal late in the game.
Luke Ayling 10/10
It was a phenomenal performance from Luke Ayling, who was not only solid in defence but also made quite an impact going forward. He offered magnificent ball-progression while also threading those trademark diagonal balls, thus easing the transition play for Leeds.
Pascal Struijk 7.5/10
Pascal Strujjk had a comfortable game in the Leeds United backline. He was barely tested by the West Brom attack that barely created any real goalscoring chance by themselves.
Ezgjan Alioski 9/10
Ezgjan Alioski was one of the best performers in this game, notably scoring the amazing second goal that opened the floodgates. He was a constant threat on the far side as well, moving forward at will and doubling down on the poor West Brom defenders.
Kalvin Phillips 10/10
Kalvin Phillips operated in a more advanced position compared to the last, and he didn’t disappoint either. The Englishman’s flawless passing and movement made it almost impossible for the opposition to prevent their flow as the Whites completely dominated the proceedings.
Raphinha 10/10
Raphinha was a real menace for the Baggies on the right flank. His dynamism, pace and those sharp cuts inside the box made him a real danger to the opposition. The Brazilian deservedly scored his goal during the final phase of the game through an excellent build-up play and an equally mesmerising effort from range.
Mateusz Klich 8/10
Mateusz Klich dominated the game in the first-half for Leeds United, with his forward runs that made it difficult for West Brom to concentrate simply on the defensive side of the game. The midfielder also provided the assist for Rodrigo’s effort just before half-time before making way for Jamie Shackleton early in the second half.
Rodrigo Moreno 9/10
Rodrigo Moreno impressed the onlookers once again with his smart movements and excellent link-up. His positional understanding, in particular, was phenomenal as the ex-Valencia star helped create space for his teammates in the final third. Scored a deserved goal just before half-time.
Jack Harrison 9/10
Another player who dominated the West Brom defence, Jack Harrison caused some real headaches for Daniel Furling with his direct forward runs throughout the course of the game. His goal in the 36th minute was also majestic, to say the least.
Patrick Bamford 8/10
Patrick Bamford was unlucky not to find the back of the net as he surprisingly found very little openings. However, it was a great shift from the Leeds United forward, who notably provided the assist for the Harrison goal.
SUBSTITUTES
Jamie Shackleton 8/10
Replaced Klich early on in the second half and provided some more energy into the Leeds United attack. His link-up play was phenomenal, with the youngster playing a key role in the build-up to the Raphinha goal.
Pablo Hernandez 7/10
Pablo Hernandez came in for Rodrigo during the final phase of the game. The veteran playmaker showed his silky footwork, offering more creativity in the final third for the visitors.
Helder Costa N/A
A late replacement for Raphinha.
