Manchester United will play hosts to Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday night hoping to pick up all three points at Old Trafford. The Red Devils managed to grind out a hard-fought 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion last Saturday which will give them some momentum heading into this midweek clash in the UEFA Champions League. However, it won’t be easy for them based on the two sides’ last meeting when Istanbul Basaksehir came out on top with a narrow 2-1 win in Turkey.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will probably stick with his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation and might make quite a few changes to his first-team for this upcoming showdown versus Okan Buruk’s men.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Istanbul Basaksehir
Defence
Dean Henderson will get the nod to operate in between the sticks for the Red Devils after letting in two goals in his last Champions League start. Victor Lindelof could be rested, so Axel Tuanzebe might come into the side to partner Harry Maguire at the centre of Solskjaer’s defence. Both centre-halves will have to maintain a good shape in defence if they want to secure a clean sheet at the Theatre of Dreams in midweek.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be a nailed-on starter at right-back while Alex Telles looks to produce a productive performance on the other side as the left-back. Luke Shaw is a significant doubt for this match, so Brandon Williams can expect to be named on the bench.
Midfield
Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek will anchor the Man United midfield as they focus on establishing their dominance at the centre of the park. The gifted trio of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Juan Mata will continue to feature just ahead of them as part of the home side’s attack.
Fernandes scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the win over the Baggies which will give him a confidence boost going into this clash versus the Turkish club.
Attack
Anthony Martial is expected to lead the charge for Man United up top. The goals have dried up for the French marksman recently, so he is in dire need to put in a fruitful display when he laces up to face the Istanbul Basaksehir defenders on Tuesday.
Edinson Cavani will have to settle for a spot on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the final quarter of the match if required.
