Reigning Premiership champions Celtic have secured a berth in the heavily delayed final of last season’s Scottish Cup. The Hoops went up against a spirited Aberdeen side tonight, and despite a good showing from the Dons in the opening stages, they were unable to capitalise. Neil Lennon’s men soon opened the scoring through a delectable goal by Ryan Christie, before Mohamed Elyounoussi continued his stellar form in front of goal with yet another neat finish. Despite not being at their fluent best, the Celts did enough to see out the win and set up what promises to be an intriguing final against Hearts.

Celtic Player Ratings Vs Aberdeen
Scott Bain – 6
The keeper was selected ahead of Vasilis Barkas again, and he showed good composure when dealing with crosses into the area. Didn’t have a single save to make over the course of the ninety though.
Jeremie Frimpong – 7
The speedster had a couple of questionable moments at the back in the early stages, but he grew into things as the game wore on. Gave the Dons defenders a hard time down the flank.
Shane Duffy – 7
The Irishman’s general positioning was top notch today, and he showed why Celtic paid such a hefty amount to bring him in. Cleared a majority of the aerial crosses that the Dons put into the area.
Nir Bitton – 6.5
The versatile defender had a couple of careless moments where he needlessly gave the ball away. Apart from that, he was secure for the most part, and partnered Duffy efficiently.
Diego Laxalt – 8
The AC Milan loanee showed exactly why he was brought in by the Celts, as he gave the Aberdeen defenders a torrid time with his movement. Played some excellent forward passes over the ninety as well.
Scott Brown – 6.5
The skipper passed the ball around with confidence and didn’t take any unnecessary risks over the tie. Neat and tidy in possession and offered himself for the pass quite effectively.
Callum McGregor – 7
Acted as the main point of contact between the Hoops’ defence and attack, and put in what is best described as a bustling performance. Didn’t misplace any passes and looked quite sharp.
Ryan Christie – 8
The attacker made a real nuisance of himself down the flank tonight as he worked hard off the ball too. Produced a moment of true quality in the first half to open the scoring for the champions.
Tom Rogic – 8
The Australian repaid Neil Lennon’s trust in him by putting up an inspired display. Made some driving forward runs and ended up securing both of the Celtic assists over the ninety as well.
Mohamed Elyounoussi – 6.5
The speedster got himself into a good position to double the Hoops’ advantage, thereby helping put the Dons in a sensitive situation. Fizzled out of the tie in the second half though and looked careless.
Odsonne Edouard – 6.5
The Frenchman’s display was not one that would’ve attracted too many buyers, but he put himself about to decent effect. Didn’t give the Aberdeen defenders time to rest but missed an absolute sitter.
