Salah’s Incredible Start To This Season
Now that Salah is about to enter the mandatory 10-day quarantine period, he is likely to miss Egypt’s two important African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Togo as well as the upcoming matches against Leicester City and Atalanta with Liverpool.
The Egyptian international has made a terrific start to this campaign after producing a string of mesmerising displays as a key component of Jurgen Klopp’s attack. He has banged in ten goals and secured one assist in 13 matches for the Merseyside outfit this term in multiple competitions.
Salah has enjoyed a rich vein of form in the Premier League where he has averaged 4.3 shots, 2.6 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per game thus far. The 28-year-old has been accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates in the final third as he has made 83.4% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
What Are The Egyptian Winger’s Best Attributes?
Salah is one of the fastest wide players in European football and is quite penetrative with his runs from the right flank. He is proficient at playing quick one-twos with this teammates and has established himself as a prolific goal-getter in Premier League football.
The 67-time Egyptian international has developed a great understanding with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, which makes Klopp’s front three one of the most feared attacking trios in England. Salah is brilliant at converting penalties but can sometimes be a bit too selfish when presented with a chance inside the opposition penalty box.
Salah Tests Positive With Covid-19: Huge Blow For The Reds?
Now that the Liverpool star has tested positive with Covid-19, he won’t be involved for at least a couple of weeks which will be a big blow for Klopp after the international break. With crucial matches coming up against the Foxes and Atalanta, the Reds can ill afford to lose another one of their first-team starters, but the recent form of Diogo Jota suggests that all might not be doom and gloom for the Merseysiders.
Klopp should consider going with a front three involving Jota, Mane and Firmino until Salah is ready to make his comeback. Plus, the silver lining for Klopp would be the Egyptian winger getting a chance to rest his legs before what looks set to be a busy and gruelling winter period when the fixtures come thick and fast across all competitions.
