Manchester City will entertain Burnley at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they look to return to winning ways in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s men suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat versus Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Still, they managed to bounce back by securing all three points against Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
The Mancunian giants will stick with their favoured 4-3-3 formation and might revert to their strongest team for this upcoming league encounter versus Sean Dyche’s side. Both Aymeric Laporte and Kyle Walker are expected to return to Guardiola’s first-team after being rested on Wednesday.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Burnley
Defence
Ederson will continue to feature in between the sticks for Man City after he secured a clean sheet versus Olympiacos in his last outing. Ruben Dias will once again lineup along with Aymeric Laporte at the centre of Guardiola’s defence as they try to restrict Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez and Chris Wood from scoring this weekend.
As mentioned earlier, Kyle Walker will return to play as the right-back while Joao Cancelo looks to put on another impressive showing on the other flank at left-back. Guardiola will demand both of them to get forward at every chance they can get so that Man City can create enough chances to earn maximum points from this home game.
Midfield
The Man City midfield will be comprised of Phil Foden, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne as they focus on dominating the battle at the centre of the park. Foden scored the match-winning goal in midweek which will keep him in high spirits going into this weekend’s showdown at the Etihad. However, De Bruyne needs to produce an improved showing as he has not played up to his high standards in recent weeks.
Both Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva will make up the numbers on the bench as they wait for their opportunity to shine as the impact substitutes in the second half if Guardiola calls upon their services.
Attack
Raheem Sterling could get the nod to operate as a wide player on the left flank while Ferran Torres hopes to give a good account of himself as the right-sided winger. Gabriel Jesus will once again assume the duties of leading the charge for his team down the middle.
Sergio Aguero and Riyad Mahrez will be available for selection on Guardiola’s bench and could come on to influence the game in the latter stages if required.
