In a recent report, The Sun has claimed that Everton are eyeing a January move for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik whose current contract is set to expire at the end of this campaign. It is understood that the Toffees boss is hoping that an offer in the region of £10m would be enough to secure the Polish marksman’s services this winter (via The Sun).
Milik’s Career At Naples Has Come To A Standstill
Milik has not made a single appearance for the Italian outfit this season and finds himself surplus to requirements at the Stadio San Paolo right now. The Tychy-born attacker is in dire need to earn regular first-team football and could be tempted with a chance to make a switch to Goodison Park when the transfer window reopens in January.
The 26-year-old was involved in 35 matches for Napoli in the previous campaign, netting 14 goals for them in the process across all fronts. The 55-time Polish international deserves a pat on the back for averaging 2.6 shots and 0.8 key passes per 90 minutes in the Serie A and was also tidy with his ball-distribution after completing 82.3% of his attempted passes in top-flight football last season (stats via whoscored).
However, Milik has not played a competitive match at club level for a long time, so the jury is still out on whether he will be able to hit the ground running in the Premier League if the Toffees end up recruiting him during the winter transfer window.
What Will The Polish Frontman Bring To Goodison Park?
Standing at 1.86m, Milik can be a dominant presence in the air as he has got the strength to outmuscle the opposition to win his fair share of aerial duels for his side. He has a good football IQ and excels at getting himself into some promising positions in the final third. Plus, the Polish marksman is a lethal finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can even hold the ball up to get others in the decisive end of the field. He is also a specialist from dead-ball situations but needs to work a bit harder on the pitch if he wants to make up for his lack of mobility.
Milik will add a lot of physicality to the Everton frontline and could potentially be a prolific goal-scorer under Ancelotti’s tutelage in the coming seasons. At 26, he is currently playing at his peak and could thrive with regular game time at Merseyside in the second half of this campaign.
However, the Toffees do not have the luxury to guarantee him regular playing minutes as the form of Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez have been excellent so far this season. Either way, Milik would undeniably help the Merseysiders push for one of the European spots if Ancelotti can arrange a cut-price move to bring him to Goodison Park in January.
