Premiership giants Rangers climbed back to the top of the league table after a rather comfortable 2-0 win against lowly Ross County. The Ibrox club started the tie in the ascendancy, and they never lost control of proceedings. Although they did concede a couple of solid chances, at no point did they look threatened by the opposition. Tavernier’s Midas touch was on display again today as he opened the scoring the first half with a neatly struck penalty. It wasn’t until the final knockings of the game that birthday boy Brandon Barker produced the second goal, which ensured that Rangers left the stadium with all three points in the bag.

Rangers Player Ratings Vs Ross County
Jon McLaughlin – 6
The Scottish stopper didn’t have too much to deal with in terms of shots on target but was fortunate not to concede. Dealt with crosses into the box rather efficiently and looked quite composed too.
James Tavernier – 8
The skipper’s excellent goalscoring form continued as he slotted away a first-half penalty to give the Ibrox club a deserved lead. Worked hard at the back and showed no signs of slowing down.
Connor Goldson – 7
The big centre-half wasn’t overly troubled by the Ross County attackers tonight as Rangers controlled the battle in midfield. Had a good header saved in attack and worked hard in defence too.
Leon Balogun – 7
The Nigerian centre-half didn’t position himself all too well but did enough to put in secure performance alongside Goldson. Used his physicality well against the Ross County attackers.
Borna Barisic – 6.5
The Croatian was far from his usual best today as his defensive game was suspect all through the tie. To make things worse for Rangers, he came off injured around the hour mark.
Glen Kamara – 7
The Finnish midfielder was calm and collected with the ball at his feet, and put in a much more composed display than he has in recent weeks. Played a good pass to release Morelos as well.
Ryan Jack – 6
The Scottish ace returned to the starting eleven after his lengthy spell out injured. Tracked back and put himself about in defence, but could’ve been more penetrative going forward.
Jordan Jones – 6
Unlike the last weekend when the speedster was all over the opposition defence, Jones put up a rather subdued performance. Wasn’t able to create the impact he might’ve been hoping for.
Scott Arfield – 7.5
The midfielder’s good run of form continued for Rangers, and he’s one of the few players who can’t be dropped by Gerrard right now. Played some good passes and got forward as well.
Ryan Kent – 7
The speedster wasn’t at his usual decisive best, as the Ross County attackers gave him very little space to work the ball into. Looked good for a goal initially but gradually fizzled out of proceedings.
Alfredo Morelos – 5.5
The Colombian made a good run and won the penalty that gave the Ibrox club the lead in the first-half. Was rather poor apart from that, and he missed a glorious chance in the second half as well.
Substitutes
Calvin Bassey – 6
Came on in place of the injured Barisic in the second half and didn’t do too much wrong. Tried to get forward and make his presence felt in attack as well.
Ianis Hagi – 6.5
The Romanian was thrown on in the second half as Gerrard’s side looked for a second goal. Produced the pass that resulted in Barker’s goal late on.
Brandon Barker – 7
The speedster celebrated his birthday with a goal and ensured that Rangers finished the evening with all three points in the bag. Did well to stroke it in as well.
Steven Davis – NA
Didn’t have time to make an impact.
