Arsenal are hoping to get back to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday when they host Sheffield United. The Gunners have had a positive start to the campaign, despite slumping to a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend. The Blades, on the other hand, are yet to win a game, so Mikel Arteta will be desperate to seal all three points in this one.
Predicted Arsenal Lineup Vs Sheffield United
Defence
Arteta was smart to rotate his squad in the win over Liverpool in midweek. There are, however, some guaranteed starters in defence including Bernd Leno, who was the man of the match in that sensational Carabao Cup victory.
Gabriel Magalhaes should also be rewarded for his performance, getting the nod ahead of Kieran Tierney in the left-sided centre-back slot. He is set to be partnered by Rob Holding while David Luiz could return to the side after being rested in midweek.
The Brazilian is likely to operate at the centre of the three-man backline, marshalling the Arsenal defence with his passing and leadership. It will be interesting to see how he fares alongside his compatriot Gabriel this weekend.
Midfield
Arsenal could persist with the reliable midfield duo of Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka in the double-pivot. Both of them started against Liverpool in the last match, and they may have to do so again, with Arteta lacking any other reliable alternatives other than Mohamed Elneny.
The Egyptian might feature as a substitute, though a more attack-minded Joe Willock is also an option. There might be no sign of Mesut Ozil once again, in this fixture.
Elsewhere, Hector Bellerin is guaranteed to occupy the right wingback position, at the expense of Cedric. Also, Gabriel starting as a central defender means Tierney might feature as a left wingback after a long time, getting the nod ahead of Bukayo Saka, Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Attack
Arteta is expected to make wholesale changes to his attacking unit this weekend, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returning to the starting lineup.
The Gabonese international is set to operate as a left-winger, with Willian starting on the opposite flank. They will look to provide support to the central striker, Alexandre Lacazette, who could come in at the expense of Eddie Nketiah, spearheading the Arsenal attack.
