David Moyes’ West Ham United side were unable to continue their blistering run of form after falling to a frustrating 2-1 defeat at the hands of reigning champions Liverpool. The Hammers took first blood in the match thanks to a neat finish by Pablo Fornals, but from that point on, the Liverpool onslaught was relentless. Despite holding strong for a large chunk of the game, a Mohamed Salah penalty, and a late strike by Diogo Jota were enough for the Reds to steal all the points in the end.
Here Are The West Ham United Player Ratings Vs Liverpool:
West Ham United Player Ratings Vs Liverpool
Lukasz Fabianski – 6
The keeper was fortunate that neither of his direct errors in the first-half led to Liverpool scoring. Couldn’t have done much about either goal, but did make the odd smart save along the way.
Vladimir Coufal – 7.5
The wing-back put in quite the shift at the back for the Hammers, as he attacked and defended efficiently whenever required to. Got forward and tried to influence their offensive play as well.
Fabian Balbuena – 6.5
The centre-half, like the rest of the West Ham back-line, was forced to work extra hard owing to the constant Liverpool pressure. Should’ve been aware of Jota’s run for the Liverpool winner.
Angelo Ogbonna – 7.5
The big defender put in what can only be described as a monstrous shift at the back, and he was perhaps unfortunate to have been on the losing side. Made a number of key tackles along the way.
Aaron Cresswell – 7
Used his pace well and delivered a couple of neat balls into the area as well, albeit to no real effect. Wasn’t allowed a single moment of respite as the Liverpool attacking was near perpetual.
Arthur Masuaku – 6.5
Although the trickster made a number of important tackles at the back, it was his negative contribution that led to the Reds’ equaliser in the first half. Did work tirelessly in defence though.
Jarrod Bowen – 7
The speedster made some useful forward dashes over the course of that tie but couldn’t produce too much quality in the final third. Was forced to track back quite a bit by the constant Liverpool attacks.
Declan Rice – 7
The Englishman sat in front of the back-line and was neat and tidy with his forward passing. Like the rest of the Hammers side, put in quite the defensive shift to limit Liverpool’s constant onslaught.
Tomas Soucek – 7
The midfielder worked his absolute socks off over the ninety as he was forced to do a lot of defending. Made a couple of key tackles at the back and tried to get forward whenever possible too.
Pablo Fornals – 7
The Spaniard was the Hammers’ main catalyst while driving forward in the first half, but his impact gradually dwindled. Showed supreme composure to find the corner past an outstretched Alisson.
Sebastien Haller – 6
The Frenchman was deployed as the lone striker tonight in the absence of the injured Michail Antonio. Couldn’t have too much of an impact but made a nuisance of himself in glimpses.
