West Ham United will take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday hoping to pull off an upset on the road. The Hammers were knocked out of the EFL Cup in midweek when they lost to Everton by a 4-1 margin. However, the East London outfit picked up an impressive 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend which will give them some confidence heading into this Premier League showdown at the East Midlands.
The Hammers will set up in a 3-4-3 formation with Michail Antonio expected to lead the charge for them up top. However, Issa Diop is unlikely to recover in time for this weekend’s clash versus Brendan Rodgers’ men.
3-4-3 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Leicester City
Defence
Łukasz Fabiański will return to the starting XI to operate in between the sticks for the Londoners after securing a well-deserved clean sheet against Wolves in his last outing. West Ham could lineup with a back three of Fabián Balbuena, Angelo Ogbonna and Aaron Cresswell as they try to keep an in-form Jamie Vardy quiet throughout the 90 minutes.
All three centre-backs will have to work hard in limiting the chances created by the opposition, but they will be in for a tough afternoon against a Leicester side that banged in five goals against Manchester City last weekend.
Midfield
Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek will anchor the Hammers midfield as they try to stop the opposition from dominating possession at the centre of the park. Arthur Masuaku will get the nod to play as the left wing-back while Ryan Fredericks looks to put on a good showing on the right flank.
All four West Ham midfielders will have to work their socks off in disrupting Leicester’s attacks if they are to have any chance of securing a result at the King Power on Sunday.
Attack
Pablo Fornals, Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen will make up the West Ham frontline. Bowen managed to score a brace in the win over Wolves which will give him a confidence boost heading into this weekend’s encounter on the road.
The Hammers will look to exploit Antonio’s pace on the break, but the English striker can expect a tough afternoon as he might find himself isolated if Leicester can get an early stranglehold in the game.
