Goal.com has recently claimed that Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is set for another loan spell in England with Arsenal closing in on re-signing him on a season-long loan deal this summer. It is believed that the Gunners have made a breakthrough in their transfer talks with Los Blancos regarding the Spanish midfielder and are in pole position to land him on loan during this summer transfer window (via Goal.com).
Ceballos’ Successful Spell At The English Capital
Ceballos enjoyed a successful loan spell at North London as he finished the previous campaign with a FA Cup winner’s medal to his name. The 24-year-old found the back of the net twice while securing two assists in 37 matches for the Gunners last season in multiple competitions.
The Utrera-born midfield ace did well to find some consistency with his all-around contributions in Mikel Arteta’s midfield after averaging 1.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.5 clearances, 0.5 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the 2019-20 Premier League campaign. He also passed the ball with accuracy as evidenced by his pass success rate of 91% in the UEFA Europa League last season (stats via whoscored).
The nine-time Spanish international has shown some encouraging signs during the last campaign, but he was sidelined for several matches due to a serious muscle injury. We can expect him to improve his performance levels for Arsenal in the new season as he has had enough time to settle into life in English football.
What Are The Spanish Midfield Ace’s Best Attributes?
Ceballos possesses excellent close control with the ball and is efficient at making some energetic runs in the opposition half. He has even got the vision to engineer a killer pass in the attacking third and is usually quite careful when distributing possession across the field. The Spaniard has converted himself into a good box-to-box midfielder as he is also not afraid to work hard in providing adequate protection for his teammates at the back.
Did Los Blancos Make The Right Call Regarding Ceballos’ Immediate Future?
There is no doubt that Ceballos can be a joy to watch in midfield when he is firing on all cylinders going forward. However, it seems like Zinedine Zidane doesn’t fancy him to do well at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next season. The talented playmaker might struggle to compete with the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Federico Valverde, Casemiro and Lucas Vasquez at the Spanish capital.
Even though Los Blancos would be better of selling him permanently this summer, yet another loan move for Ceballos could help him break into the world-class bracket which could benefit Zidane’s team in the coming seasons. With all things considered, the Spanish champions have made a good move by deciding to send him out on loan to Arsenal once again before the start of the new campaign.
