In a recent report, Marca has mentioned that Real Madrid are eager to push Gareth Bale out of the club amid interest from Manchester United this summer. It is believed that the Welsh wing wizard has returned to the Spanish capital which could now speed up his exit process from the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in this off-season (via Marca).
Bale’s Unimpressive Form Under Zidane’s Stewardship Recently
Bale has mostly been underwhelming with his performances for Los Blancos in recent seasons. The Cardiff-born speedster was involved in just 20 games for the Madrid giants in the previous campaign, registering three goals and two assists across various competitions.
The 83-time Welsh international managed to end the 2019-20 campaign with a La Liga winner’s medal in his trophy cabinet. Still, he could only average 2.1 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the top tier of Spain and the UEFA Champions League last season. At least Bale distributed the ball relatively well as he made 79% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
It seems like the talented Welshman is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu after falling out of favour with his manager Zinedine Zidane. Hence, a switch away from Madrid could be an ideal move for both the player and the club this summer.
What Does The Welsh International Bring To The Table?
Blessed with electric pace, Bale can be a devastating threat in the attacking third when he is dribbling with the ball at top speed on the counter. The Welsh wide player can be a joy to watch when he is firing on all cylinders up top. The 31-year-old can potentially be a regular goal-scorer at the highest level if he can overcome his recent injury problems. However, the La Liga star will be a risky addition for any top-flight club due to his poor record in Spain over the past 12 months.
Why Los Blancos Need To Cash In On Bale This Summer
The Spanish champions need to reach a compromise with the player so that they can part ways with each other in this off-season. Despite winning a lot of major trophies during his long and illustrious career at the Bernabeu, it’s high time that Bale moved on to another club in search of more game time in the coming seasons.
At the moment, only Man United looks like they have the funds to pull off a transfer for the Welshman. Zidane needs to take this opportunity to get a deal over the line as Bale’s potential exit could help Real Madrid generate some money which will help them make a few incoming transfers this summer. At 31, the former Tottenham Hotspur winger is a player on the decline, so it makes a lot of sense for Zidane to give him up ahead of the new campaign.
