Premiership giants Rangers have started the current league season in blistering fashion, with not yet a single goal conceded in their six matches so far. Their last two league outings have both ended in comfortable 2-0 victories, with no signs of slowing down being displayed yet by Steven Gerrard’s high-flying side. Currently sat at the top of the Premiership table with a three-point lead, the Gers faithful will be hoping to maintain that position for as long as they humanly can.
The arrival of players like Jon McLaughlin and Leon Balogun have already begun to pay dividends, while the acquisitions of names like Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe are looking like steps in the right direction as well. Despite these new signings, there is still one position remaining in the squad that Gerrard would have to address before the transfer window slams shut. Central midfield might not be the most sensitive area in this Rangers squad on paper, but a closer inspection would reveal the cracks.
Ryan Jack and Joe Aribo have both seemingly earned their places in the side since the start of the season, but that third midfield role has been an issue. Glen Kamara has been deployed there a few times but hasn’t offered enough in an attacking sense. Scott Arfield too has struggled to make a name for himself in the role. This is perhaps why Rangers have been linked with several midfielders over recent weeks.
The Scottish Sun have linked the Bears with a move for Zenit man Daler Kuzyaev, while the Glasgow Times have touted them to be keen on Israeli ace Dan Glazer as well. With Czech source isport.cz crediting them with an interest in Genk’s Patrik Hrosovsky too, a midfield acquisition is looking quite likely.

Identifying The Midfield Target That Rangers Should Move For: Who Would Suit Them Best?
Dan Glazer
The Maccabi Tel Aviv ace is a holding midfielder by position and would have to be brought in as competition for Ryan Jack in the core of the side. With Steven Davis available as a backup to Jack as well, the Gers would likely be better off signing a more attack-minded midfielder this time around. The possibility of a newly-signed Israeli midfielder outperforming Ryan Jack in the pivot for Rangers is quite bleak, which means that moving for Glazer wouldn’t be the smartest move from the Scottish giants.
Patrik Hrosovsky
This KRC Genk man is a central midfielder who is more than comfortable driving the team forward almost singlehandedly. Adept with the ball at his feet, this diminutive Slovakian would add something different to the Rangers attack-line. Despite not being the biggest, Hrosovsky offers good presence and dynamism in the final third, while his passing ability in midfield will be a useful asset as well. Even with all this though, the midfielder’s biggest selling point must be the fact that he can beat any defender in the world on his day, using nothing but pace and sharp movements of the body. Given his skill-set, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to say that the 25-capped Slovakian would be the best option for the Ibrox club this summer.
Daler Kuzyaev
The 27-year-old currently finds himself as a free agent, having been released by Zenit at the end of his contract. The lanky midfielder has notched up over 20 caps for Russia over the course of his career too, which highlights the quality that he would actually bring to the table. Having spent his entire life in the Russian leagues though, settling into the gritty nature of the Premiership will surely be a challenge for the playmaker. Despite these shortcomings, Kuzyaev is a good carrier of the ball, while his vision and long passing are right up there as well.
