Manchester United will clash heads with Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League. The Red Devils gave a poor account of themselves versus Crystal Palace in their season opener at Old Trafford last weekend. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer managed to get a positive response from his players in midweek when they beat Luton Town by a 3-0 scoreline in the third round of the EFL Cup.
The Man United boss will once again set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to bring most of his first-team stars back for this clash versus Graham Potter’s men.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Brighton
Defence
David De Gea will return as the Mancunian club’s first-choice keeper after being rested in midweek while Dean Henderson has to be content with a place on the bench. Victor Lindelof will resume his centre-back partnership with Harry Maguire at the back as they look to keep Brighton’s Neal Maupay and Leandro Trossard quiet this weekend.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be a guaranteed starter at the right-back position while Luke Shaw hopes to produce another tireless shift on the other side as the left-back. Both Man United full-backs will have to figure out a way to orchestrate some decent chances to score for their teammates inside the opponent’s penalty box.
Both Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Brandon Williams will provide cover for the defensive positions on Solskjaer’s bench.
Midfield
Both Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba will assume their duties as the holding midfielders. Their primary focus would be to dominate the midfield battle so that they can cook up a few clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities in the decisive end of the pitch.
The terrific trio of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood will function just ahead of them as a part of the Red Devils attack. Fernandes will be the one responsible for engineering some meaningful openings for the likes of Rashford, Greenwood and Martial on the counter.
Daniel James and Juan Mata will be available for selection on the bench but could come on to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if required.
Attack
Anthony Martial will spearhead the Man United attack up front. The French centre-forward will be hungry to score his first goal of this campaign. However, it won’t be easy for him to do so against the Seagulls defence that has secured consecutive clean sheets versus Portsmouth and Newcastle United respectively.
