Premiership giants Rangers have secured progress into the third qualifying round of this season’s edition of the UEFA Europa League. Their matchup against Gibraltar based football club, Lincoln Red Imps, ended with a comfortable 5-0 scoreline. The first-half saw the home side putting ten men behind the ball and trying to hold on, but after the first goal went in, they never looked comfortable. Kemar Roofe was forced to go off with an injury during the tie, as goals from Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe, Connor Goldson and James Tavernier ensured that Rangers join Celtic in the next round of the competition.
Here Are The Rangers Player Ratings Vs Lincoln Red Imps:
Rangers Player Ratings Vs Lincoln Red Imps
Allan McGregor – 6.5
The veteran keeper was barely called into action tonight as the Scottish side dominated proceedings for a majority of the ninety. Collected well from set-piece situations and made one super save too.
James Tavernier – 8
The skipper had an excellent first half where he delivered multiple top-quality crosses before whipping a free-kick into the corner of the net. Was taken off in a tactical substitution at half-time.
Connor Goldson – 8
The big centre-half did well to get his head onto the ball to find the net. Positioned himself very effectively at the back and didn’t allow the Red Imps attackers too much running room.
George Edmundson – 7.5
The out-of-favour centre-half is usually preferred for European encounters, and the same trend continued tonight. Made some strong clearances and showcased his pace while tracking back.
Borna Barisic – 8
The speedster bombarded down the flank for the entire night and didn’t give the home side’s defenders a moment’s rest down that end. Delivered a peach of a cross for Goldson’s goal.
Scott Arfield – 6.5
The veteran midfielder was the only Rangers player who played a multitude of loose balls in the first-half. Moved the ball around well, but should’ve done better considering their dominance
Glen Kamara – 7
The Finnish midfielder controlled the tempo of the game with his physical superiority and strong passing ability. Used his height to win some key headers in the middle of the park.
Greg Stewart – 6.5
Stewart started the game on the flank but was shifted to a couple of positions after that as others were substituted. Made some excellent forward runs but couldn’t take advantage of an excellent scoring chance.
Ianis Hagi – 7
The youngster was all over the Red Imps defenders tonight as his trickery and technique were far too good for them to deal with. Had a free-kick well saved and linked up well with Morelos.
Cedric Itten – 7
The Swiss attacker was deployed in one of the wide roles tonight as Gerrard aimed to give Kent some much-needed rest. Offered himself as a willing runner but wasn’t able to put it in the net.
Kemar Roofe – 6
The Jamaican striker picked up some good attacking positions in the opening half but was required to come off with an injury before the clock reached half-time.
Substitutes
Nathan Patterson – 7
The youngster was brought into the full-back role after Kemar Roofe picked up an injury and went off before the halfway mark. Worked hard getting up and down the pitch.
Alfredo Morelos – 8
The Colombian showcased enough ability and desire to carry Rangers to an extremely comfortable position in the second half. Scored twice and ran rings around the opposition defence.
Jermain Defoe – 7
The Englishman came on and showed that age doesn’t define everything for a footballer. Was perhaps fortunate that his strike deflected in, but his work-rate and attitude were top class.
