In a recent report, Marca has stated that Manchester United are intensifying their efforts to land Real Madrid full-back Sergio Reguilon this summer. It is understood that Los Blancos also wants to include a buy-back clause before sanctioning his exit with the Red Devils already stepping up their attempts to sign the Spanish defender during this ongoing transfer window (via Marca).
Reguilon’s Outstanding Loan Spell Under Julen Lopetegui’s Tutelage At Seville
The Real Madrid youth product had a successful loan spell with Sevilla last season which has raised his stock considerably in European football. He managed to produce some mesmerising displays as Julen Lopetegui’s primary left-back in the previous campaign and helped the Spanish club secure the UEFA Europa League trophy as well.
Reguilon participated in 38 matches for the Seville-based outfit in the last term, scoring three goals and providing five assists in various competitions. The Madrid-born defensive ace deserves a pat on the back for giving a good account of himself after he averaged 1.8 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 0.9 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per game in the 2019-20 La Liga campaign.
He was even pretty tidy when passing the ball from the left flank as evident from his pass success rate of 81.4% in league football (stats via whoscored).
At the moment, Zinedine Zidane has Marcelo and Ferland Mendy battling for the left-back position at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium while Nacho provides cover for them as part of the French head coach’s match-day squad. Hence, it is safe to assume that Reguilon is surplus to requirements at the Spanish capital, so it makes sense for the player to seek a move elsewhere either on loan or permanently before the transfer window slams shut in October.

Right now, Reguilon would be a significant upgrade over the injury-prone, Luke Shaw and the inexperienced Brandon Williams at Old Trafford.
