Maddison Gets 7, Amartey With 4 | Leicester City Players Rated In Disappointing Loss Vs Arsenal

Leicester City played hosts to Arsenal at the King Power Stadium earlier tonight hoping to pick up a positive result and progress into the fourth round of the EFL Cup. Both teams fought tooth and nail in the first half but failed to land a glove on each other as they went into the half-time break with nothing to split them.

Christian Fuchs scored an unfortunate own goal just before the hour mark which put the North London giants in a commanding position to win the game. Eddie Nketiah put the match to bed in the 90th minute when he scored from close range. The East Midlands team ended up suffering a disappointing 2-0 loss at home which knocked them out of the EFL Cup.

Let’s take a look at how each Leicester City player fared during the contest against Arsenal.

GK: Danny Ward – 5/10

The Welsh keeper made a couple of decent saves in the first half. However, he ended up conceding two goals in the second 45 minutes, which won’t please him.

RB: Daniel Amartey – 4/10

Amartey was lucky not to concede a penalty midway through the first half. He also didn’t deal with the danger in the lead-up to Nketiah’s late goal which sealed the game for Arsenal.

CB: Wes Morgan – 7/10

The Foxes skipper kept things tidy at the back early on and even made a superb clearance from the goal-line to keep his side in the contest in the second half. However, his efforts were not enough for Leicester to avoid defeat tonight.

CB: Christian Fuchs – 5/10

He was unfortunate to concede an own goal in the 57th minute, which ultimately ended up giving the Gunners the initiative to go on and snatch the win.

LB: Luke Thomas – 6/10

He was bright and energetic in the first half but ran out of gas towards the latter stages of the game.

CM: Hamza Choudhury – 5/10

Choudhury tried to make things happen in the early goings of the match but was mostly a frustrated figure at the centre of the park.

CM: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 6/10

The 22-year-old put in an impressive showing in the first 45 minutes but didn’t last the whole game as he was subbed out to make way for Ayoze Perez.

RM: Marc Albrighton – 6/10

The talented winger engineered some decent goal-scoring chances for the Foxes but was let down by some woeful finishing from his teammates.

CAM: James Maddison – 7/10

The ex-Coventry City player was a constant threat in the opposition half and was unlucky to hit the woodwork with his excellent chip just before the half-time interval. He got tired and was replaced before the end of the game.

LM: Demarai Gray – 6/10

Gray had a few moments of promise in the early stages of the encounter but never looked like he had a goal in him in the second half.

ST: Kelechi Iheanacho – 5/10

The Nigerian striker did not give a good account of himself while leading the charge for the home side down the middle.

Substitutes:

RM: Ayoze Perez – 5/10

He squandered a great chance to score but missed the target with his header from close range.

CM: Dennis Praet – 5/10

He failed to hit the target with his volley from 20 yards out.
