In a recent report, Marca has claimed that Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is willing to wait for his transfer to Real Madrid next summer. It is believed that Los Blancos have no choice but to postpone their pursuit of the French midfielder, who has calmed their fears by informing them about his willingness to wait for them until the end of this campaign (via Marca).
Camavinga’s Impressive Rise At The Roazhon Park In Recent Years
The talented prospect has made an excellent start to this season after registering one goal and one assist in five appearances for Rennes in the Ligue 1 so far. Camavinga caught the eye for producing several dominant displays at the centre of Julien Stéphan’s midfield in the previous campaign. He featured in 36 matches for the French side in the last term, netting one goal and providing two assists across various competitions.
The 17-year-old found some consistency with his contributions in midfield as he averaged 4.2 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 0.6 shots and 0.8 dribbles per match in the French first division last season. He even distributed possession with a lot of accuracy as evident from his pass success rate of 87.7% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Camavinga has established himself among Europe’s most promising youngsters and could potentially become a generational talent if he continues to raise his game with each season. Hence, the Madrid giants will do well to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next summer as he could serve as an ideal long-term replacement for Luka Modric, who is edging closer towards to end of his time at the Spanish capital.
What Will The French Midfield Ace Bring To The Table?
Camavinga loves to go in for tackles so that he can earn possession back for his side. He can position himself ideally to make some crucial clearances at the back and has already proven his worth as an accurate ball-distributor in the middle of the park. However, the French whizkid needs to add a few more goals and assists to his name if he intends to become a class act at the highest level.
Will Camavinga Be A Good Option For Rennes Next Summer?
Currently, Zinedine Zidane has an ageing squad at the Bernabeu with the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema, Marcelo and Sergio Ramos all in the wrong end of their 30s. Hence, the French head coach needs to target some promising young players like Camavinga in the future if he wants to establish a period of sustained success at Madrid.
The Rennes starlet is a star in the making and will undeniably bolster Real Madrid’s squad depth in the years to come. With all things considered, Camavinga will be an excellent option for Los Blancos in the long-run, but he might need time to settle into life in Spain if he ends up joining Zidane’s revolution at the end of this campaign.
