According to Daily Mail, Leeds United are mulling over a move for Crysencio Summerville. The Feyenoord youngster is one of the most talented players the club have to offer in their youth academy right now.
However, Summerville’s future at Feyenoord is in major doubt as Leeds United are plotting a move for the winger this summer. The newly-promoted Premier League outfit are even willing to pay around £1.3 million for the services of the youngster.
Who Is Crysencio Summerville?
Summerville has been playing for the Feyenoord youth academy since an early age, but it was only until last season when he finally made his mark in professional football.
Indeed, the winger had initially joined ADO Den Haag on a season-long loan deal last summer in search of game-time. He didn’t take time settling in either, becoming an ever-present figure in the club’s starting eleven.
Summerville made 21 league appearances, taking part in five goals, which is quite significant given the fact that ADO Den Haag managed to score only 25 goals last term, lowest in the 2019/20 Eredivisie campaign that was ultimately deemed null and void.
What Can He Bring To The Table?
A right-winger by trade, Summerville’s style of play is quite identical to Barcelona superstar Ousmane Dembele.
Much like the Frenchman, the 18-year-old is blessed with quick-feet that allows him to drift past defenders at will while his low centre of gravity makes it easier for him to retain his balance when taking on the opposition. It also becomes useful when wriggling through tight spaces.
However, what makes Summerville such a sought-after prospect in Dutch football is his blistering pace.
The Feyenoord youngster is an extremely dynamic forward, with his speed making him a scourge for the defenders, especially on the counter. It complements his skill and ability to dribble.
A Perfect Option For Leeds?
Leeds United have done a remarkable job of poaching young, talented players across Europe this summer.
They have already secured the services of youngsters like Charlie Allen, Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood, Cody Drameh and of course, Illan Meslier. One might sense that the only thing missing from this impressive list is a winger and that is where Summerville comes into the fray.
Despite his lack of experience at the highest level of football, the 18-year-old could be a useful first-team option for Marcelo Bielsa next season. He can provide competition for Ian Poveda, who is yet to make an impact at Elland Road since joining from Manchester City.
As things stand right now, Summerville could, in fact, have a considerable chance of breaking into the Leeds team next season as the Whites lack depth in the wider attacking positions and are yet to sign a new forward apart from Rodrigo.
Hence, the Feyenoord whizkid could indeed be a viable target for Bielsa this summer.
