Premiership giants Rangers secured progress into the next round of this season’s UEFA Europa League after a comfortable 4-0 away victory against Willem II. The Ibrox club started the game in the ascendancy and didn’t really offer the away side too much hope of a win. The opening goal was scored by James Tavernier from the penalty spot after Ryan Kent was brought down illegally. The former Liverpool man then scored one himself, before both the centre-halves got in on the act to hand Steven Gerrard’s men an important European victory.
Here Are The Rangers Player Ratings Vs Willem II:
Rangers Player Ratings Vs Willem II
Allan McGregor – 9
The veteran keeper showed Steven Gerrard exactly why he’s been in the business this long, after a quite brilliant performance in between the sticks. Made multiple sensational stops over the ninety.
James Tavernier – 8
The Rangers skipper offered a solid defensive presence all through the fixture and even made a vital clearance in the last minutes to preserve the clean sheet. Opened the scoring with a penalty too.
Connor Goldson – 8
The centre-half did over-commit on a couple of occasions but was faultless for the most part. Won some important headers in the defensive third before scoring one at the opposite end.
Filip Helander – 8.5
The big defender put in a brilliant shift in the heart of the defence for the Glasgow club. Pulled off some sensational tackles and interceptions, and rose well to score a goal in the second half as well.
Borna Barisic – 8
The speedster wasn’t at his usual penetrative best in attack tonight but still managed to have an impact on proceedings. Defended well and delivered some good crosses from wide too.
Steven Davis – 7.5
The veteran midfielder was guilty of misplacing the odd pass but offered an extremely composed presence in the Gers’ engine room. Moved the ball around with great confidence as well.
Glen Kamara – 7.5
The Finnish midfielder’s display in midfield was commendable. Despite not being in the best run of form, he managed to pass the ball around well. Made one extremely threatening run into the opposition box.
Ianis Hagi – 5.5
The Romanian starlet struggled to get into the pace of the game as a majority of his touches seemed to let him down. Wasn’t able to produce any quality and missed a glorious chance in the late stages too.
Scott Arfield – 7.5
The midfielder was deployed in a slightly more attack-minded role than usual tonight, and it’s safe to say that he did well. Despite the odd poor pass, he was secure and controlled in possession.
Ryan Kent – 9
The speedster was this Rangers team’s driving force in attack. Made multiple dangerous runs into space, won the first-half penalty, and scored a goal as well. The best player on the pitch by a distance.
Alfredo Morelos – 7
The Colombian, despite not getting on the scoresheet, did look dangerous at times during that tie. Didn’t look as hungry as usual in attack though, as the timing of his runs were a bit off on occasion.
