Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side progressed to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after beating European heavyweights Real Madrid by a 2-1 scoreline. The match ended 4-2 on aggregate to the Premier League outfit, after goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus on either side of half-time cancelled out the Karim Benzema strike sandwiched in between them. Both of the City goals on the night were the result of individual errors, courtesy of Real Madrid’s World Cup-winning defender Raphael Varane. The victory for the Citizens also meant that Zinedine Zidane has now lost his first ever Champions League knockout stage tie as a manager.
