Barcelona took on Napoli in the second leg of their Round of 16 clash in the Champions League at Nou Camp and won the match easily by 3-1. They dominated the possession and the match from the very beginning. Clement Lenglet scored the first goal of the match from a corner in the 10th minute as he headed past David Ospina. Lionel Messi’s brilliant solo goal made it 2-0 for the hosts in the 23rd minute. He was brought down in the box by Kalidou Koulibaly to earn the Blaugrana a penalty in the 46th minute as Luis Suarez converted from the spot to put the match beyond the reach of the visitors. 5 minutes into extra time in the first half, Ivan Rakitic’s foul on Lorenzo Insigne earned Napoli a penalty, which was slotted past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen by the captain. However, it was too little too less to get the Italian side into the quarter-final.
With a 4-2 win on aggregate, Quique Setien’s men go on to face a tough opponent in the form of Bayern Munich in the next round. The German champions thrashed Chelsea 4-1 in their encounter and won the contest by 7-1 on aggregate to advance to the quarter-final.
Barcelona Players Rated In Their Win Against Napoli
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen 7
Didn’t have much to do throughout the match, thanks to excellent performances from the centre backs. He could have finished with a clean sheet, but for the penalty scored by Insigne.
Nelson Semedo 6.5
Had a good game. Made darting runs down the right-hand side and came back to defend well too.
Clement Lenglet 8
Brilliant performance from the Frenchman as he kept Dries Mertens and Insigne at bay throughout the match. Opened the scoring with a brilliant header as well.
Gerard Pique 7
Another solid performance from the experienced Spaniard. Made important tackles and cleared the danger throughout the match.
Jordi Alba 6
Looked a little tired in the second half after a good first period. Made some good runs into the box, but lacked the finishing.
Sergi Roberto 7
Passed the ball well and played good linkup with the forwards. Created space efficiently as well.
Ivan Rakitic 6
His foul on Insigne earned Napoli a penalty. Had a decent outing otherwise.
Frenkie De Jong 7
Looked to make the runs into the box whenever he had the ball. Held the ball well in the midfield too.
Lionel Messi 9
Brilliant as always. Great composure in front of the goal as he scored one to double the lead for his side. Looked threatening throughout the match. Another outstanding performance from the Argentine skipper.
Luis Suarez 8
Played good linkup with Messi to give him space in the box. Took a cool-headed penalty to put the match beyond the reach of the visitors
Antoine Griezmann 6
Looked a little out of touch on occasions. Played some good passes into the box.
