In a recent report, the Daily Mail has mentioned that Manchester United are in talks with Aston Villa over a summer move for Jack Grealish. It is understood that the English playmaker is still a prime target for the Red Devils as they try to come to an agreement with the Villans ahead of a potential deal during this summer transfer window (via The Daily Mail).
Grealish’s Superb Season At Villa Park
Grealish was in fine form for the West Midlands outfit in the previous campaign as he helped his boyhood side survive the dreaded drop to the EFL Championship on the last day of the Premier League. The Birmingham-born midfield ace ended last season with ten goals and eight assists to his name across all fronts.
The 24-year-old worked hard by helping his teammates at both ends of the field based on his average of 0.8 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 2.0 shots, 2.5 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in England’s top tier. Grealish even distributed possession well in the opposition half as he made 84.8% of his attempted passes in league football last season (stats via whoscored).
Grealish has established his name amongst the top midfielders in England, but only time will tell whether he can manage and cope with the high expectations at a top club like Man United if he decides to leave the Villans in this off-season.
What Will The Aston Villa Star Bring To The Theatre Of Dreams?
Grealish can pass the ball well from midfield and has got the ability to play an incisive through-ball in the final third. He has also managed to score some important goals for Villa over the past couple of seasons. The English playmaker brings a lot of energy and dynamism onto the pitch and can be a real joy to watch when he is firing on all cylinders going forward. The Villa youth product has even worked hard to provide some defensive protection for his teammates at the back.
Should The Red Devils Get Grealish On Board This Summer?
Grealish will undeniably improve the quality of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad as he has got what it takes to be a useful first-team player at Old Trafford. He will add a lot of goals and assists to the Man United midfield and could also provide some serious competition for the likes of Paul Pogba, Daniel James, Andreas Pereira and Juan Mata for a first-team place next season.
Furthermore, Grealish could potentially strike up a fruitful attacking partnership with Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial if Solskjaer can find a way to land him in this off-season. At 24, the English midfielder is about to enter his prime, so the Red Devils can expect to get the best out of him if they end up luring him to the north-west of England in the coming weeks ahead of the closure of the summer transfer window in October.
