Fulham will look to regain their Premier League status, which they lost at the end of the 2018/19 season as they take on Brentford in the final of Championship Playoffs. The Cottagers made their way to the final after beating Cardiff City by an aggregate of 3-2. They took the lead of 2 goals against the Bluebirds in the first leg, which the Welsh side could not overturn despite a 1-2 victory in the second leg of the semi-final clash, leading Scott Parker’s men to march into the final of the playoff to face the Bees.
Parker will be worried about having a few significant injury concerns ahead of this crucial clash in the form of winger Neekens Kebano, who had scored the only goal for the Cottagers in the semi-final and Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is still struggling with a hamstring injury. With these two in-form players doubtful for the final match alongside Ivan Cavaleiro, it is to be seen how Parker rallies his troops against Thomas Frank’s side and lead them to victory.
Defence
Cyrus Christie and Joe Bryan will start on either end of the box as the right and the left-back. Parker is expected to be wary of the fact that the centre back pairing of Michael Hector and Tim Ream had not had a good time against Cardiff City, but is expected to keep his confidence in them and start with the duo in the final against the Bees.
Marek Rodak will start between the bars for the Cottagers.
Midfield
Harrison Reed and Tom Cairney will be operating in the central midfield position as they have done throughout the season. Cairney and Reed have been great while playing link up with the defence and the attack, intercepting dangerous balls from the opposition while helping their forwards to make inroads into the opposition box with pinpoint passing and delightful deliveries.
Josh Onomah will be playing right ahead of the aforementioned duo in the midfield. He has been in decent touch this season as well and will be expected to play a crucial role in this important encounter.
Attack
With the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Neekens Kebano doubtful to make it into the playing eleven in time for the final, it is expected that Scott Parker will go in with Bobby Reid to lead the line in the final. With both Kebano and Cavaleiro out with injuries, the onus might be on Aboubakar Kamara to start alongside Reid. Kamara has been one of the experienced campaigners for Fulham and played a crucial role in the match against Cardiff after he was brought on as a substitute to replace Kebano.
Anthony Knockaert, who has also been in good touch of late for the Cottagers, will start on the right-hand side of the midfield. He was in fine form against the Bluebirds and Parker would expect him to play a crucial role in guiding his team to victory in the final of the Championship playoffs.
