Premiership giants Rangers dropped their first points of the new league season after faltering to a frustrating goalless draw at the hands of Livingston tonight. Despite the fact that the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Ianis Hagi and Ryan Kent all started, the Ibrox club were unable to impact the fixture in the manner that they would’ve liked. The Gers finished the match with a total of 23 shots, but only three of those actually found the target. Neither side ever looked like breaking the deadlock throughout that tie, and a point each was perhaps the fairest result possible.
Here Are The Rangers Player Ratings Vs Livingston:
Rangers Player Ratings Vs Livingston
Jon McLaughlin – 6
The summer arrival wasn’t called into action on a single instance until the late stages of that tie. Only had the one shot on target to deal with as the Rangers defenders put in a good shift.
James Tavernier – 6
The skipper wasn’t able to produce any of his usual quality down the flank despite getting forward and linking up the play fairly efficiently. Defended well and maintained his positioning too.
Connor Goldson – 7
The big centre-half didn’t allow the Livingston attackers any space to work the ball into in the defensive third of the pitch. Passed the ball around well and looked composed for the most part.
Filip Helander – 7
Stepped into the side in place of the injured Leon Balogun, and did an excellent job protecting McLaughlin in between the sticks. Never looked flustered when in possession either.
Borna Barisic – 6.5
The full-back got forward in every possible opportunity, but other than the odd pass infield, he failed to produce the required quality in the final third. Tracked back efficiently when required to. Barisic’s freekick in the end stages of the game was probably Rangers’ best chance to break the deadlock.
Ryan Jack – 6.5
The Scottish midfield anchor moved the ball around with supreme composure but didn’t have the attacking penetration he might’ve been hoping for. Didn’t misplace any passes over the ninety.
Glen Kamara – 6
The Finnish midfielder struggled to find inroads in attack tonight as he just seemed to lack that killer touch. Some neat passes here and there but the lack of consistency hurt him terribly.
Scott Arfield – 6
The former Premier League midfielder was brought into the side in place of Aribo tonight, and it’s safe to say that he looked like a shadow of the Nigerian in the attack. Never looked capable of impacting the tie.
Ianis Hagi – 5.5
The Romanian speedster had a few decent touches of the ball but struggled to get into the game all through the first half. Was taken off in the second period as he failed to impact the fixture.
Alfredo Morelos – 6
The Colombian tried to impact the tie in the first half but wasn’t really helped out too much by his teammates. Some decent touches in attack but never really had a clear opportunity to find the net.
Ryan Kent – 6.5
The speedster looked the likeliest player to produce anything for Steven Gerrard’s side tonight as they looked utterly toothless in attack. Some decent crosses but never had a surefire shooting chance.
Substitutes
Brandon Barker – 6
Brought into the tie in the second half as Gerrard tried to impact the fixture in any way he could. Didn’t have the impact he might’ve been hoping for in the latter stages though.
Kemar Roofe – 6
The former Championship sensation struggled to get into the game after coming on as he struggled even to make the ball stick. Some decent passes but never looked productive enough.
Cedric Itten – 6.5
Held the ball up well on a couple of instances but didn’t have the impact that Gerrard intended. Picked up some good positions in the late stages but didn’t have time to do much else.
