The Sun has recently claimed that Everton are among several clubs hoping to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard this summer. However, the Scottish champions are expecting a bidding war for their prized asset with the likes of Leeds United, Leicester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace set to battle it out with the Toffees in the race for his signature in this off-season (via The Sun).
Edouard’s Oustanding Career At Parkhead
Edouard boasts a fantastic goal-scoring record at Celtic since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2018. The French marksman has netted 64 goals and provided 32 assists in 130 appearances for the Glaswegian outfit thus far.
The Kourou-born forward has started this campaign in fine form as he already has four goals and one assist to his name in four games for his current employers. However, the Scottish giants failed to get past Ferencvaros in the UEFA Champions League’s second qualifying round as Celtic were narrowly beaten by a 2-1 scoreline with the striker missing the game.
With no Champions League football to look forward to, Edouard can benefit from making a switch away from Celtic Park this summer. The Frenchman needs to go on a new adventure if he intends to make a name for himself at the highest level. Everton can offer him that luxury as one of their main priorities should be to add more competition for Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top.
What Will The French Striker Bring To The Table?
Edouard’s pace allows him to make a few promising runs in behind the opposition backline. He has transformed himself into a goal-scoring machine in the Scottish Premiership. The ex-Paris Saint-Germain man can even hold possession up well for his teammates and often comes alive when given time and space inside the opponent’s penalty box. However, the French U-21 international is yet to prove his value at the highest level.
Will Edouard Be A Good Choice For The Toffees?
Edouard will bring plenty of pace and goals to Goodison Park as long as he can make a successful transition to life in the Premier League. The 22-year-old’s best years are ahead of him which the Toffees could look to capitalise on in the coming seasons.
Everton head coach Carlo Ancelotti will be the ideal man to get the best out of Edouard as he has the managerial experience to help the player take his game to another level. With all things considered, the French goal-getter seems like a decent choice for the Merseyside outfit as he could potentially strike up a productive attacking partnership with Richarlison in front of the opposition goal. At 22, Edouard is on his way to becoming a world-class forward, so Ancelotti will do well to lure him away from Glasgow this summer.
