Manchester United will take on Sevilla at the Rhein Energie Stadion on Sunday night hoping to book a place in the final of the UEFA Europa League. The Red Devils had managed to beat FC Copenhagen by a narrow 1-0 scoreline but only after extra-time on Monday, so they would be confident as well as a bit tired heading into this weekend’s showdown versus Julen Lopetegui’s men.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will probably opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and might be inclined to select an unchanged team for this upcoming European contest in Germany.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Sevilla
Defence
Sergio Romero should continue in goal for the Mancunian side after he had kept a well-deserved clean sheet against Copenhagen earlier this week. Harry Maguire is expected to partner Eric Bailly at the centre of the Man United backline. The defensive pair produced a solid performance in their last outing, but both of them would have to figure out a way to keep the Sevilla attackers at bay this weekend.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a nailed-on starter at right-back while Brandon Williams tries to put in another energetic display as the left-back. Solskjaer will ask them to pick and choose their moments to link up in the attacking third, but their primary focus would be to stop the opposition from getting in behind their defence.
Axel Tuanzebe (foot), Luke Shaw (ankle) and Phil Jones (knee) will be unavailable for selection. However, Victor Lindelof and Timothy Fosu-Mensah should provide adequate cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Fred will anchor the midfield alongside Paul Pogba as they look to win the 50-50 battles and create some decent openings in the opposition half. The brilliant trio of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood could lineup just ahead of them as part of the Red Devils attack. Fernandes scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot versus Copenhagen which would keep him in good spirits on Sunday.
Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic will all have to settle for a spot on the bench as they await their opportunity to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if required.
Attack
Anthony Martial will once again get the responsibility to lead the charge for Solskjaer’s team up top. The French striker has often been amongst the goals since the season’s restart, so he will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net when he laces his boots to go up against the Sevilla defenders this weekend.
Odion Ighalo will make up the numbers on the Man United bench and could come on to provide some fresh legs in attack if Solskjaer decides to call upon his services.
